Winterfell Resident
I was wondering, there has been so much talk about the RedWynes and their naval fleets in the south, are they more superior than than the Manderlys and their naval fleet in the north? If someone has more knowledge about the naval forces of both regions, please elaborate.
Minsc
The South as how they didn't build their navy just recently.
Twenty of House Goodmen
The south by far.
Kungsmurfen
As far as I know the Rewyne fleet is only matched by the Iron fleet. The Manderlys are building a fleet but I doubt it's even close to the size of the Redwyne fleet. I really don't believe there's much info on the exact size of the Manderly fleet though. Roddy the Ruin
South no question. Give the Northern navy a few years and it might be a contest.
grand old duke of stark
Not even close. The North has fewer ports, less trade, and--considering the South is site of the Capital and most the Southern 'kingdoms' have great ports, how could the North dominate in this sphere? Conversely, on land I'd take the North and the Northerners any day.
OutlawSarge
who ever the Iron Fleet sides with or if they continue to take their own side it the Iron Fleet. The Iron Fleet seems to be the most prepared for Navel Combat. Not that the SOuthern Fleet isn't its just the Iron Fleet makes their living raping and pillaging. Bright Blue Eyes
Before the Wot5K, there were three fleets of about equal power: Royal Fleet, Redwyne Fleet and Iron Fleet, with the ordinary Ironborn could make up a fourth one, though not with the same discipline and lacking true warships. Everything else was negligible. Now, the Royal Fleet was destroyed, the Iron Fleet decimated and the Redwyne Fleet and the ordinary Ironborn are going to engage in all-out war soon. And Manderly built a fleet that would have about 50% the power of the fleets above. If he had experienced sailors to crew them. But he hasn't. So, despite heaviest losses, the South is still ahead by far.
Sansa_Stark
I don't know about the royal fleet, but the Redwyne Fleet is way stronger than the IF. The SSM saying that they are close to equal is old(as in years before AFFC was published)

Sullen
Depends if you include the Iron Isles in the North... if you do, then the North takes it, but not by much. Otherwise, South, there's no contest.
King Pellinore
As a whole, the South but, that will be splintered among Dorne, fAegon's conquest and KL. The only split in the North is between the IB and Manderly. Let's face it, the IB is very good at harassing but, not good at sustained siege or seabattle. KINGpanther
At the moment the redwyyne fleet and ironborn are smashing eachother and the iron fleet is in essos. If manderley attacks at the right time the north could become a major player navally. Also i wonder what that waters is gonna do with that massive warship he stole? King Pellinore
To whom will the Redwynes give the allegiance? When Cersei was taken into custody by the High Sparrow, the Redwyne Fleet disappeared.

The Marquis de Leech
how could the North dominate in this sphere? Well, they are the ones with the gigantic forests that they conveniently choose not to use, because some bloke called Brandon burnt some ships several thousand years earlier. (Manderley's navy is also a gigantic plot hole, seeing as it could have been used to ferry Robb and company back to the North wiithout having to go via the Twins. The navy, like the clansmen, are a quite annoying case of Martin putting his finger on the scales).
Frey Pie
To whom will the Redwynes give the allegiance? When Cersei was taken into custody by the High Sparrow, the Redwyne Fleet disappeared. Well it depends on if they are loyal to Mace. If they are they will either stay with Tommen or declare for Aegon I think the Redwyne fleet will face the IB soon enough
