If my life is on the line, I want the guy who might as well be superman fighting on my behalf. You know, the guy who surfs down the trunk of giant elephants and simply does not get hit once in the entire saga? That's the champion I pick. If i can pick someone from the Silmarillion, i'd agree with the other posters and say that Fingolfin is probably the pick of the crop. If you guys can pick Beorn (whom i am very fond of), then i can pick Thorin Oakenshield. That dwarf was badass even before he got all action-hero-y for the movies.
