Ser Creighton
I'll let you know so far I have not been able to get on the last couple of days, just a bit here and there. Just had to refresh the page now. It's been really slow to load and almost always a blank tower page.
Howling Mad
Seems to be every ad lately. I get one chance to view a page before I get jacked up.
Tellus Explorer
Same happened for me, I couldn't reply to my pm's because of the overlapping By the way, I visit the forum from my cell phone, with chrome. Using the full website version, and before this, I was able to browse around without a problem.
Ran
All right, that fix didn't help it seems. Going to pole around more. Sorry for how long this is taking!
Ibbison from Ibben
I'm having this problem as well. (PC, Firefox). It seems to correlate strongly with Xfinity ads. When a red Xfinity ad loads on the left side of the page, the page doesn't load correctly almost every time. (reverts to Hightower background on the left, solid grey on main page.) If the Xfinity ad loads on the bottom, same thing often occurs. (ETA - Or the left column content will load correctly, but the Hightower background will load to the immediate right.) Other times the page loads correctly, except the bottom ad spot is blank. 9The little AdChoices arrow/link is there, but no ad.)
Tellus Explorer
Mine are mainly from AT&T ads I'm used to seeing college ads for my culinary endeavors (you know, how chrome personalizes the ads from our history) well whenever I get these ads this happens
Ibbison from Ibben
If someone is fiddling with the ads right now, it's working. No ad loading under the Westeros.org shield (AdChoices arrow is there), bottom ad is loading, everything else is just fine. AT&T ads don't affect me. Tellus Explorer
I don't have an ad at all and its working just fine.ETAhttp://i.imgur.com/D4AXwV1.jpgWhen I have an ad (just now) its for auto insurance and still it works fine.
Ran
Still working?
The Ned's Little Girl
For me, it's working most of the time now. Sometimes the problem still happens, but a page reload will usually clear it - not 100% of the time, but definitely the majority of the time.Again, thanks very much for all your efforts on this, Ran. Tellus Explorer
Exactly what TNLG said, it has mucked up a few times but not nearly as many, also thank you so much :grouphug:
Ran
I'll let the ad network know. I'm not sure they've done anything, but if they had it'll be good to make them aware that they've improved things a lot.
DreamSongs
I was still having problems today, but finally coughed up a couple bucks and installed an adblock program on Chrome. No problems since.
Ibbison from Ibben
Seems to be working better than it has for a month. Sometimes no ad loads directly blow the Westeros.org shield, but I haven't had to do a refresh all day. (PC, Firefox)
Ibbison from Ibben
As of this morning, all ads are loading properly (I saw no Xfinity ads) and everything is working just fine. It looks fixed to me. Thanks!
Ibbison from Ibben
Xfinity ads back today. So are the problems. Had to refresh. (left hand column had colored, marbled background with no Hightower image, rest of page solid grey.) The correlation seems to be quite strong. Tyrion the Perfect
This is the first time I've gotten in all day....honestly the last couple of days have been the worst I have seen this problem. :bang:
Sparks
As best I can tell, what's happening is that some ad (or ads) loads only partially. This has several effects:This breaks the skin, causing the Flaming Tower of Doom.It screws up the skin loading behind the scenes, too, which...means PHP doesn't exit cleanly for a long while, which itself...means we spawn lots of additional PHP processes as people hit reload, which...means the server gets loaded down, making everything sluggish even when you do get in.I've done what I can to alleviate points #3-5, though the side effect is that individual page loads will be a little slower for the moment, but #1-2 are outside of my control. Ran
Folks who've had this issue: Please clear your cache, close and restart your browser, and then visit. Is the issue still present, and if so, is it less, more, or equally frequent to how it was previously?

Is the issue still present, and if so, is it less, more, or equally frequent to how it was previously? Earlier today I actually re-installed chrome and haven't had the issue again on two of my androids (one of the others is still acting up) also the ads have changed, no more at&t :smug: no more problems
