Pox Americana
Maybe Sansa for pure numerical number of challenges, but definitely Bronn or Littlefinger for the distance that they leap those challenges.
Mikkel
What constitutes a "challenge" ? But yes, Dany is definitely a contender, even if I don't think she has dealt particularly well with all those challenges (and quite a few of them are of her own making, too). H.P.
Theon hasn't really "overcome" any challenge in my book. He's just gone with the flow. It's not like he survived Ramsay on cunning or sheer willpower, he just happened to not die/become even more insane. I'd say Dany. That's someone who's played the cards she's been given and beaten the odds. She could have easily ended up just another old crone in that Dothraki town, but instead she became a continent-conquering demigodess-queen. Damp Hair - The Prophet
If Dany didn't have dragons she wouldn't have overcome zilch but standing up to her bully older brother (not hard to do when Drogo and 100,000 Dothraki have your back).Theon has survived a lot and by remaining (regaining) himself I'd say he's overcome a lot. John McCain made a career out of it. Don't discount how destructive torture is.Stannis is the very definition of dogged perseverance, thereby he's overcome a lot.Any nameless smallfolk that survives to a certaitn age surely overcame a lot more than any noble can imagine. Its very expensive to be poor.

I don't know what are conditions for this, so I would say LF.
Karene
The title - overcoming challenges - suggests we're not talking about which character has changed the most, rather that we're talking about which characters have overcome the most obstacles. In that case, Sansa and Arya have overcome the most obstacles and come out stronger. Particularly Sansa. In terms of characters undergoing the most change due to external influences, Theon is up there.

Nictarion
What challenges has Stannis overcome? He grew up in one of the most powerful houses in Westeros. Later became brother to the king. Not exactly a hard life.I'd say Daenerys and Arya.

Karene
Varys Ha ha, I can't think of Varys having to overcome any challenges. He eats challenges for breakfast and would probably be bored without them.
