Red Typer of Dorne
This may be a stupid question, but if Crasters daughters are old enough to bare children it implies that he was producing kids before the others re-appeared. So what happened to his sons before this? Were they just killed? Abandoned? or have the Others always been there?
Nymeria_Stark
Maybe they've been covertly building up their forces before deciding to reveal themselves to the NW. Like any moral army, they prob still needed large numbers to launch an attack.

Red Typer of Dorne
I just find it weird that no one knows their there, mind you I don't suppose those that see them live to tell :dunno:

Like any moral army, they prob still needed large numbers to launch an attack. Is the most probably explanation. We don't know exactly when they "awoke" or why they are attacking after so much time inactive, but they can be wandering for years in silence and only attacking now. They were attacking the wildlings much time before the Night Watch discovers them, Mance became king beyond the wall because the tribes could not face the White Walkers. Trigger Warning
I don't think Craster getting rid of his unwanted children had anything to do with the Others to be honest.

addicted to snow
Craster is a Red Herring, of course (see signature)... He has never even seen an other... & his sons certainly do not become Others... Craster's Sons are collected & sacrificed to the Weirnet so that Bran & BR might have more power at their disposal... Here is an illustration from ACoKs showing Craster's Sons being collected (picture #4, I believe)... http://www.richardhescox.com/a-clash-of-kings-gallery.php Hmmm, these "Others" are not dressed at all like the Others were depicted in the AGoTs Prologue... My conclusion is that it is Not the Others collecting Craster's Sons... Whoever is collecting the sacrifices is more than likely related to Val in some way... TallTyrion
Leaving unwanted children out in the snow probably isn't that unusual North of the Wall. They die of cold and the forest takes care of the rest.
