I had no clue, as your English is so good.

I have some questions: how difficult is it to play a game like this in English, considering there is so much word play. How do keep up with English? (Do you speak it at your job? Just through the internet? English TV or movies?) Do you ever have a perfect Acro in Hungarian?

Nosey Emmit.

Eta: I guess these questions could apply to anyone who has a native language other than English.

The full truth is that English is my job. (I'm a language teacher.) So even though English is not my mother tongue, my relationship with this language is still quite "intimate". I use English a lot, both in my job and otherwise, in all the ways you mentioned. I also read books in English regularly. It gives me the same degree of pleasure as reading in Hungarian. And I write things for pleasure, like posts and Acronyms.  :) I don't really think of Acros in Hungarian. I rarely mix the two languages, and this game is fully English for me, so I think in English when I play it.

How difficult is this game? I don't know, it's probably not the same as for you, but I love English, and I absolutely enjoy the extra challenge that it means to compete in English with native speakers.  ^_^

Wow. Way more of ya'll are non-native speakers than i thought. I really would not have guessed that. Just curious - where did you learn English? In school or by studying or traveling abroad?

I learned English at school, then at university, I also spent some time in English-speaking countries (months, not years), and I have always had a lot of opportunity to speak to native speakers of English. (But as a teacher, I'm also exposed to a daily dose of not-so-good English, LOL.) Then there are, of course, the books, the films, the internet and travelling...

EDIT: Congratulations, She who Must be Obeyed! That was a very funny entry!

Some people have a gift! Do you speak any other languages? I studied Russian but was never good at it. Not because it's a different alphabet as people assume - that's easy to get used to. I'm just not good at remembering all the grammar rules which makes it harder to remember the actual definitions of words since I get so caught up in the grammar. But one of my roommates in Russia spoke 5 languages fluently. She could pick them up within mere months.

No doubts about number one....

1st.   1."Creative Entertainment Greatly Improved My Day" -- Walder
                                                  Jinglebell Heartbreakingly Lost

And I looked carefully at the ones that looked quieter, and found gems....

2nd.  12. Castamere Encore? "Gods intoned - marriage defeated wolves!" jeers House Lannister  had to get Lannisters in there...

3rd.    8. COLLUDERS EXECUTE GUESTS! - Incarnadine Marriage
Decapitated Wolf Joins Headless Leader    'joins'  heh heh

4th.    3. Carnage Explained: "Guests Imbibed Mead," Dished Walder. "Jingle Hated Lushes."  for some reason I find 'Jingle' endearing

They were really all damn good.

I used to work with a German couple in England who would be nattering on in English and then mid sentence be speaking in German and a minute or so later back speaking in English.

My son teaches English in Japan and I'm blown away that he is now fluent in the language.  Not surprising I know, but it impresses me.

Congrats SWMBO - well done.

Holy...something...these entries are fantastic!  Also, nice work She Who Must Be Obeyed!

1. 1."Creative Entertainment Greatly Improved My Day" -- Walder

Jinglebell Heartbreakingly Lost                          This really is the standout for me. Funny. Accurate to Walder. Creative.  Well done!

2. 8. COLLUDERS EXECUTE GUESTS! - Incarnadine Marriage
Decapitated Wolf Joins Headless Leader                         Whoever you are, you had me at incarnadine (which I admit I had to look up).

3. 2. Commitment Ends Gruesomely in Murder
Dead Wolf, Jinglebell, Heartbreaking Losses    This is a great headline, as it leaves out enough details to get people to read.

4. 12. Castamere Encore? "Gods intoned - marriage defeated wolves!" jeers House Lannister  I can definitely see that being printed somewhere in Westeros.

HMs to all, and I really mean that!  But I want to make special mention of entry 6 because I came so close to choosing it for vote 4, and to entry 3 because I can totally see Walder blaming the whole thing on Jinglebell.  You guys seriously need to lower your quality next round. ;)

1. 8. COLLUDERS EXECUTE GUESTS! - Incarnadine Marriage
Decapitated Wolf Joins Headless Leader

The play on words of Greywind's head being sewn onto poor Robb's body and joining him in death made this an easy pick for #1.

2. 4. CASUALTIES EVERYWHERE...GALA INTERRUPTED! "Many dead, wounded!", Joffrey, happily laughed.

The thought of Joff finding glee in the massacre makes me laugh... what a putz.

3. 11. Crossing: Eminent Guests Impaled. Married Daughter Weeps, Joyless Honeymoon Looming

I am so jealous of "Crossing". I wish I had seen it. And the "news" that the massacre puts a damper on Roslin's honeymoon is dandy.

4. 9. Cast-iron Evidence Grows! Irrefutable! Murderous Direwolves Warged "Jumping Hellhounds"
link

Even though cast-iron is pushing the line as far as the extra words rule, I just love the thoughtful inclusion of a link to the article. I wish it had included a actual link to the Wiki article for the Red Wedding.
