Ocelot
The Eyrie, seat of House Arryn, Lords Paramount of the Vale, is at the top of the Giant's Lance and can be reached from the west by traveling the High Road up the mountains, past the Bloody Gate. Gulltown, the Vale's only city, is located on the coast of the Narrow Sea east of the Eyrie. Is there any travel b/w the Eyrie and Gulltown? I know there's no road between them, and I'm not even sure the Eyrie can be accessed from the east. This doesn't make sense, b/c since the Vale was a united kingdom for a long time, shouldn't the ruling house's seat be connected to the only city and seaport? What do you guys thin? thelittledragonthatcould
There is no major road but there is bound to be some roads linking the Vale's capital to its major port. That is how Cat gets back to the North"Ser Rodrik, it is past time we took our leave. My place is at Winterfell with my sons. If you are strong enough to travel, I shall ask Lysa for an escort to see us to Gulltown. We can take ship from there."
aryagonnakill#2
I think people get the Eyries location really confused. it is not in the middle of a mountain range, it is in the middle of a wide open valley. While there is no road on the map, there is certainly a road.
purple-eyes
helicopter!sorry. I think there must be a lo of roads across the mountain. how other people travel to bloodgate, then how they can travel from bloodgate to seagulltown.
Minstral
Well from the Eyrie you have the option of flying...Or the other paths that are probably not as large as the Kings/Gold/Rose roads. Plus most maps we see of the Vale seem to take the entire continent into consideration. If you scale it down then you might begin to see some roads on the map.Of course this ignores the real reason as to why we don't see a major road on the maps so far... GRRM isn't playing a geography game with his series and is instead telling a story. That there is no road described means that he either feels it unnecessary to mention one, or he never got that specific with the Vale in the first place. ANNALISVETH
How do you travel from Eyrie to Gulltown? I will guess that one must come out and head towards the Bloody Gate. Then go towards Ironoaks or Redfort and from there go to Gulltown. Or to Old Anchor and get a ship to Runestone and then to Gulltown. There are no specific roads named there, I don't find that to be important.

Light a wight tonight
I like the original question. The Eyrie is really badly located in relation to the rest of the Vale, unless you want to keep your administrative center away from the coast, where it's more vulnerable to attack. I guess most of the administration is done via ravens.
