Ring3r
I think there's a good chance the term is an old surviving one from the time of the First Men or the invasion of the Andals. People and Children of the forest perform blood sacrifice to them and their sap is blood red. The heart of heart tree probably refers to blood. The "heart" of heart tree probably refers to blood. Since hearts are pretty heavily associated with that.
Ser Lepus
Because the weirwood tree is the "heart" or "core" of the sacred garden. The Children of the Forest's places of worship were sacred weirwood groves in the forests. When the First Men adopted their religion, they planted "forests" in their castles, and put a weirwood at its center to mimic the CotF's sacred groves... The weirdwood tree is the "heart" because it's the most important part of the garden, it's what makes the garden a sacred grove instead of just a mere garden. Hi friend It's an intriguing theory that the term "heart of the heart tree" could be linked to blood sacrifice and the ancient traditions of the First Men and Children of the Forest.networth Edited May 24, 2023 by Aashi
