What's with the fixation on Peter Dinklage
It seems Prentiss has some real support. I haven't seen in Bruges yet, but I am planning to. If I like the look of Prentiss in that movie then I might get onto the Lannister thread and blow his trumpet a bit louder.
You're in for a treat. In Bruges is great. That said, to me, Dinklage seems more like Tyrion. I always see in him charm, wit, and a sense of very deep pain.
Martin Klebba = Tyrion ... Perfect!

He'd have to be uglied up, but he's definitely got the sly wit AND the physical capabilities. I'd love to see him in this role.
All the current crop of Dwarf actors would have to be uglied up a bit. Seems Klebba is 2nd= in popularity along with Prentice.

If Ran is gonna run a poll on casting preferences it will be interesting to see who gets 2nd place. Dinklage will, of course, be the clear winner.
Prentice immediately jumped out at me as good for Tyrion when I saw 'In Bruges' a few months back. He has the benefit of looking the right age and having more fair coloring than Dinklage too.
Prentice is actually just under 4 years younger than Dinklage, which isn't much of a difference once you're in your mid 30's. People think I'm older than my wife, but she's 3 years older than me. When we were in our teens no one would have made that mistake. (The deception is helped by her colouring her hair, whereas I'm trying to go for the sliver fox look.)

I said 'looking' not 'being'. ;)

Prentice looks like he is in his 20s, Dinklage looks like he's in his 30s. 4 years difference or no.

Okay, until someone convinces me otherwise, Dinklage IS Tyrion...

Only a little bit worried that he's a bit too old... some of his pictures on IMDB show he is starting to get the crinkly wrinkles around the eyes... but damn, he's got the charisma and acting chops to pull off Tyrion.

I think the casting of Tyrion is the most important for the series... a tour de force acting performance by a dwarf actor will garner this series much needed attention.

And now for something completely different... Dylan Postl. He's a wrestler in the WWE... plays a leprechaun named Hornswoggle. He's 4'4", and does acrobatic moves off the top turnbuckle. Do a google search for either name for more images.

The storyline for the character has some pretty humorous parallels with Tyrion in the books.

Another pic, this time out of costume, wearing red on black. I honestly think Mr. Postl does look the part. No idea if he can act.
In answer to the topic title, no, he isn't the only dwarf actor I know (of), he's one of the best actors around, period.
Yep. My view as well.

Dinklage is about the only dwarf actor who makes me forget that he's a dwarf actor. His performance nevers draws attention to his stature. He has that rare quality on the screen (regardless of size, gender, race, etc) that just sucks you in. The actor who plays Tyrion needs this.

I haven't seen In Bruges. If that guy is as strong an actor as Dinklage, than I'd be perfectly happy to see him get the role. Ability is more important than being the right height. (Hell, I'm thrilled to have Hugh Jackman as Wolverine even though he isn't 5'3". :) )

Whoever they cast for Tyrion, he needs to be in a similar caliber as Dinklage. I'd happy with a complete unknown at that level of acting ability, because it'd mean another fantastic actor will be getting a break.

Shouldn't be that big of a deal. Apply the one scar and some green paint on his nose to CGI it away. Likely, a contact lense as well of course.

When does Blackwater happen again? Is that even in AGoT?

This is just my own bias opinion but the casting of Tyrion is the most important casting of the whole show. They have to get 3 POV characters right Tyrion and Aryia who are not only my favorite characters but judging from holyte's Be-all End-all Popularity Contest, and fireball07's
So...probably the most overdone thing on this board...but threads

most peoples favorite characters;

And Eddard stark; well Aryia is so young how are you going to find a good enough actress? unless they can talk Dakota Fanning
into doing it. its almost a complete crap shoot. Ned is a great guy but come on he is the average good guy hero thats why Martin killed him off to show he wasn't average and his fantasy is way better than that. so all our hopes ride on Tyrions stunted little shoulders.. well I honestly believe if somehow they convince Dinklage do take the part the series is guaranteed to make at least 3 seasons but thats a big chance he is a busy guy because he is a very talented actor dwarf or not. so we have to come up with a strong second choice or the series will not have the chance it deserves

P.S I was drunk while writing this so. give me some slack... but drunk or sober its still true

As if you needed more proof. Minimalist acting at its best (there's a scene where Fin loses it in a bar, but couldn't find it):

I would like to congratulate the maker of this thread.
I just wanted to say I saw Jordan Prentice in "Weirdsville"
He plays a securityguard, who is pissed of because he is to short to be a policeman, and people don´t take him seriously in his job. I think he would make a pretty decent Tyrion.

There is a hilarious scene where he drives around in a truck, with three of his friends who are medieval reenactors and also dwarfs. They drive up to a car and jump out wearing armour and snashes it wih maces and flails. The other three dwarfs are played by these guys
Joey Beck
Mark Parr
Allan Redford
Don´t know how well they act. But they all looked good in armour.
Just wanted to throw some more dwarf actors out their.

I totally agree with this opinion. I fell for Dinklage in Nip/Tuck: he was so sexy, so intense, so believable that I completely forgot he was a dwarf.

And Tyrion is an excellent oportunity for an actor. As someone has mentioned, it has Emmy written all over :)

I'll have to check out Weirdsville. I just saw 'In Bruges' this weekend. Good film, and great to see Colin Farrell not trying to play a cool cat American for once. Finally another chance for him to show once again what caught the attention of the Film world in the first place.

There wasn't enough of Prentice in this movie for me to get a real sense of his acting range, but there was enough for me to be satisfied that he would do a competent job as Tyrion. And I think he has a Tyrion face and head, so the look is right.
