Eyelesbarrow
In my mind, LF has a sleazeball side that Tom Hollander could do. However, I wouldn't mind seeing David Tennant as Peter Baelish.

However, I wouldn't mind seeing David Tennant as Peter Baelish.Tom Hollander would be great! Loved him as Mr Collins in Pride & Prejudice... He would be a perfect charming and sleezy character.Although, I'm gonna hold out for David Walliams as LF...David Walliams: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0909144/I fear the computer says noooooo... :D
Steel_Wind
Nice idea, actually.John Simm is still my #1 pick. James Callis is moving up to second place for me as well at the moment. While watching The Plan tonight, it came to me in the CLEAREST of terms that James Callis (Gauis Baltar) would EASILY make the ideal Littlefinger.Sorry. He's the >>IDEAL<< Lord Baelish. A villain you cannot help but like and admire. His demeanor and, with a goatee, his look.... perfect. His command of wit and amused delivery? Perfect again. His intellectual superiority? Again..perfect.James Callis (Baltar) IS Littlefinger.

Jacopo Belbo
I think Kevin McKidd is too physically intimidating to get away with being littlefinger. LF has to be someone that everyone underestimates, plus if he was Kevin Mckidd, Brandon Stark would have had to have been fairly kick-ass to whup his ass over Cat.James Callis is really growing on me of late as Littlefinger but I'd be more than happy with John Simm or Mark Warren. My perfect Littlefinger would still be Eddie Izzard. I thought he was too old now but i should recheck now that the cast has been aged up a bit.Ah. It is nice to see support for my suggestion. I believe I was the first to suggest this (either here or at WiC) and I cannot help but think that, despite the age, Eddie Izzard would make a wonderful, sinister, clever bastard of a Little Finger .... "and this is all true ... because I say so"
Kinski
I'm going to continue to suggest Kristoffer Joner as Littlefinger. He is one of my favorite candidates and according to me he looks like the part and has the acting skills to play him.http://gfx.dagbladet.no/pub/artikkel/5/52/..._1201437102.jpghttp://www.photosight.org/up/2007/12/18/72985.jpg
JWJ78
Ioan is 5'11", an inch taller than Sean Bean. You want a Littlefinger who's _taller_ than Ned Stark?Ioan could make a nice Davos, though. He already has extensive experience playing a sea captain (Horatio Hornblower). And Mark Addy is to play a 6'6" beast of a king. SO what. I think it could be done. The Pita
Saw the three first episodes of BSG. I haven't seen much plotting with James Callis, but in episode 1, when he tells to the Cylon who's possessing him (or whatever she's doing) something like "There was some involvement, but none by god." That was a pure Littlefinger moment, and it worked. I'd still prefer John Simm, but I will shed no tears if Callis is chosen.
Werthead
was put forward for Littlefinger on WiC. Not only that, but one of the posters apparently emailed his agent, who said they were already considering going for the role :) Aiden Gillen would be a terrific choice. He was one of the leads in Queer as Folk and more recently starred as Tommy Carcetti in The Wire. He is also from Dublin originally, which is relatively convenient (well, compared to Baltimore anyway ;) ) for the production. I can actually see him in the role very well. He is a year older than Jennifer Ehle but looks like he could pass for a few years younger without any major problems.EDIT: Cripes, re-reading the statement on WiC, it appears that the casting director has already discussed the idea with Gillen's agent. Superb
The Pita
It's been offered. Again, he's not my main choice, but I will not be averse to him as Littlefinger. Let's wait and see.
trio
Hasn't Gillen lived in London most of his adult life? Most Irish professional actors do - it's just a bigger pond, whilst still only being a very short flight home. But yeah, it's certainly just as convenient for him to hop up to Belfast. I'm a Callis fan for LF, but I can certainly see Gillen. Poor guy though - talk about pigeonholed for slimy roles! I'd prefer Callis just as I think that he's capable of looking trustworthy at times - in BSG I often genuinely wasn't sure if he was acting from selfish or pure motives. I kept giving him the benefit of the doubt :P and I think that would work great with the character of LF on T.V.With Gillen I'm not sure if anyone would ever trust him. But having a "face" like him as LF can only help the project. Werthead
Carcetti wasn't exactly a saint, but he had good intentions. Of course, seeing those intentions getting ground down under the weight of the system is one of the key themes of The Wire, but even so I would say that Carcetti was a vastly superior mayor to the pretty much corrupt Royce. There were times when he was even likable.I think it's a good idea. Might even displace John Simm as the no-brainer choice for me.

Jeremy Northam would be good but posibly a little old. Alan Cumming would be fun in the role as well.
Davieboy
Honestly, straight up, first time I saw Aidan Gillen on The Wire (which I watched about 9 months ago) I thought Littlefinger. I was immediately reminded of Amok's portrait of Littlefinger http://en.amokanet.ru/gallery/martin/martin_1184.html - Amok's pics were pretty much how I've come to visualise all the characters. If he does get the part I think he'll be perfect. Him or David Milliband.....
fitheach
Well, Littlefinger is supposed to be younger than Catelyn, and shorter by a couple inches (than Catelyn) too. So these things should be taken into account maybe...

Nightrider
Forget McKidd from Rome, Tobias Menzies would be better for Littlefinger. Only I think he'd be likely to stickup HBO for more money after the first year. Guy didn't even hang around to be in Quantum of Solace after Casino Royale. Which is a shame, because he would have been great as a regular (sort of a replacement for Q, since the actual role of Q has no relevance in the rebooted Bond universe).Ever since I started re-reading AGoT a few weeks ago I've been seeing Menzies as Littlefinger, and I have to say, I think he'd be perfect for the role. I don't care which one.
WightMeWorry
I still say Dominic West (see top picture with a potential co-star Jennifer Ehle :D) is the best choice. He could totally pull off lines like "as it happens I own a brothel or three", and then pull off that "contrite" look.
