Did you or Doug ever hear from Tycho, btw?

Nope. I tried getting in touch with him via the board and the Book of Faces, but no replies. :(

And if our train is on time, we should be to the hotel around 8pm.

Aww, that's a shame.

I guess we'll just have to drink his share of the beer. It's a sacrifice, but one we'll have to make.

I like the way you think!

Naturally, we'll have to text him the entire time to let him know we are drinking his share of the beer.

Well, of course. It is a con after all.

I was rather stating the obvious, wasn't I?

When you folks get in, just come see me at the program ops table!

You're offically a smof now, aren't you? Have you learned all the secret handshakes and whatnot yet? :pimp:

See you this afternoon!

Looks like we're a go. We'll be arriving late-ish - 8 - 8:30 because we don't want to have to crate the pups too early.

Can't wait to see you all again. Would one of you guys mind giving us a call later and letting us know what time you might be heading out to dinner? I know you usually get a later reservation due to the size of the group and we're hoping to join. :-)

Signature changed. :-)

Always a blast to see and hang out with you guys. We got in around 3:15AM safe and sound. I'll get the pics up as soon as I can. weeeeee

I think Stego should change his avatar to the chocolate orgasm video.

Sig also changed. ;) (ETA: Fen just saw my new sig/avatar/title combination. He walked away, shaking his head and muttering to himself, but I can still hear him laughing.)

Another great con. I even *gasp* attended multiple panels! I'm certain I haven't gotten to so many panels since 2006, lol.

As always, the Xs are the best roomies ever--complete with a flight of home brews provided for tasting. Doesn't it sound posh when I phrase it that way?

I consider myself more hen-PECKED than pampered. Obviously, this needs to change.

As ever, I must first thank X-Ray and Mr. X for putting up with us for roommates; it is always appreciated.

The quality of Boskone in terms of it's programming, guests, and dealers has been improving; this was a fun year all around.

The weather was typical, with no snow but a wind that caused people to lose glasses, hats, and whatnot. Sunny, at least.

I picked up my third collection of Harold Waldrop short stories; I really should actually read one of them at some point. I also picked up The Hammer, as I have never read anything by KJ Parker yet either. I don't know if this is the stand-alone that I should have picked to be the first one that I read, but I have to start somewhere. I finally managed to track down SC Butler's first novel, which is the first in a trilogy. I hope that I like it, but since it is the only thing that he has written, I did not have much choice.

This was a much-needed fun change of pace from the drudgery that this winter has been. Intelligent conversation is at an all-too rare premium for both of us at work; thanks to the BwB in general for saving us from this hell.

Had a great time with everyone, so thank you all. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one...and staying for a few full nights! I felt bad leaving early, but my brain was being overruled at the time, haha.

The internet at the house is being flaky, so the report will have to wait until tomorrow. Safe to say, we are home safe, we had a wonderful time, our roomies were top-notch, and I am particularly happy to see that we haven't traumatized Weekapaug, even after being subjected to me stripping off my top to show off my tattoo.

Also, Stego had a rather pornographic encounter with a piece of chocolate.

You are so both FULL OF WIN!!1

Thank you, thank you! *bows*

I am incredibly jealous of X-Ray and Mr. X. I will let them tell you why.

Tease. Hrmph.

It was great meeting you! Hope to see you at future Boskones!

...even after being subjected to me stripping off my top to show off my tattoo.

Subjected? You say this like it was a bad thing. Does not compute.

 Nice ones, Regina and Fen.

Boskone was again excellent. Lots of panels I wanted to see -- almost all of them related to genre artwork -- and while a couple had the first few moments of "oh fuck, I've joined the Panel of Death," they all settled down and were interesting.

I cannot remember what happened on Friday, except that Stego was threatening to scale some sculpture in the hotel lobby and smofbabe lost her glasses because the wind blasted them off of her face and down the street. (I am still in awe.)

Saturday we were up early to get breakfast and then to hit the panels. In between those, I stalked the dealers room and the art show. I stayed the hell away from the jewelry table -- there is one designer whose work always calls to me, and I think I've bought something from her every con we've jointly attended (Boskone, WorldCon, World Fantasy). Not this time, though. I ended up buying a painting from Omar Rayyan. I saw the piece last year in the art show, but didn't bid on it. So when I found it for sale, I picked it up.

We met Weekapaug around lunchtime and introduced him to Time Honored Traditions, such as punching each other when you see someone wearing a cloak, Utilikilt, anthro gear (ears, tails, paws), goggles, and the like. Best garb of the evening was the guy walking around in a scaled-armor shirt and scaled-armor, floor-length tail.

The evening began with a Burning Bush. No, really. A tree outside of Legal Seafood went up in a gout of flame, and we were treated to the sight of multiple cooks running around with industrial fire extinguishers. We made it back to the hotel and met Balefont and J, retired to the room to drink some homebrew, and then we descended upon the party floor like a wave of avenging narwhal. The party floor smelled WAY WAY worse than normal, because some asshole had left a bag of Chinese takeaway in the hallway. Anyway, on the party floor we ran across more spruce beer, and Stego got into the chocolate. I've never seen a man enjoy a Krackle as much as he did Saturday night. We stalked up and down the hallway, invading parties at random, and then we somehow got into a pissing match over San Antonio. We discovered that the hotel swimming pool has disco lighting. We discovered that Zelda is Very Serious Bizness. And we discovered that Frog has multiplied. We crashed at around 1:45am, which is early by BwB standards, but fine by me.

And now we get to the part Stego alluded to earlier. Every year, Mr. X and I purchase art at Boskone, usually in the form of prints (because prints are cheaper) or small original sketches. This year marks a new phase: We just purchased our first original large piece of artwork. It took a fair bit to work up the courage to put my name down on the bid card -- we had multiple conversations about the purchase while standing in front of the painting. But bid I did, and then I stood in front of the painting until the bidding closed (that way, no one can swoop in at the last second and out-bid you by a buck). One long-time collector named Edie was kind enough to explain the ropes to me (stand in front of your painting until The Wall comes to kick you out -- the wall is basically a wall of art show workers who seals off the area after bidding has closed) and talked about how she and her partner started their collection.

We bought The Wizard by artist guest of honor Greg Manchess. It is the cover art for Gene Wolfe's book of the same name. I love Manchess's work and the cover art for those two books, and saw The Knight in the Boskone art show last year. In any case, Stego has threatened to visit us frequently so he can look at the painting. After the deal was done, I went over and fan-girled the artist for a bit and I got a hug because, hey, I just bought one of his paintings. Anyone who likes Wheel of Time and who has an extra nine thousand or so to spare -- Manchess did a kick-ass rendition of the Battle of Dumai's Wells for the Tor e-book. It's way cooler in person than it is on the computer.

Mr. X and I also helped with the clean-up, and wished we could have stayed longer to help more. But we had a bus to catch (and artwork to spirit home), and them's the breaks.

I can't wait until next year. :)
