Arya's Destiny?

You don't think that maybe Arya might end up more like Alia?

Driven crazy by the persona of her deceased grandfather, turning into a ruthless and insane tyrant, and eventually committing suicide in a lucid moment? Sounds more like Cersei than Arya, if you swap out Cersei's straight-up madness for Abomination. Whatever else happens to Arya, I don't think insanity is on the menu.

See Newstars reply as I think she puts it well, though I might throw in Dany as a parallel if we think that Rhaegar is more Paul Maudib, and Jon is more Leto.

I think Arya, as opposed to Alia is much more grounded in reality. She never had the fairytales that Sansa did, but always seemed to see people for who they were, (Arya pretty much saw through Joffrey), as well as their nature. Arya also isn't really ever abandoned in the total sense that Lady Jessica abandoned Alia.

Arya still has role models helping her from Syrio, Jaquen and the KM, (despite whatever his true intentions are).

I suppose being a powerful Warg could be the same as the memories the Bene Jessarit had, and could become overwhelming if she lost control, but I think that Cersei, or Dany fit that possibility better, especially if Dany cannot decipher her visions as Alia seemed unable to do.

sorry but I despise Arya. Well maybe not Arya as a person, more her storyline. It's extremely boring and I wouldn't have minded if that axe outside the Frey castle had killed her :P I don't really get why you all like her, she's just a little girl.

You are in a very, very small minority of people, so unless you want a flame war, and to be accused of trolling, maybe just avoid Arya threads.

her storyline since Braavos really suck but Arya herself is interesting enough since she is the only Stark alive actually trying to get revenge. But if she really become" No One" and stop to care about her past... i ll be done with her, even if her missions as a FM are all about killing her past enemies

Why are you bothering to post on this thread?

I can't say for sure say what Arya's destiny will be. She's already gained alot of skills and I think she'll kill someone important (I don't want her to but it looks like she could meet up with Dany). I think she'll end up meeting back with Sansa and Nymeria.

BTW I don't get the hate for Arya's Braavos chapters. I think they are awesome and I love reading about her adventures.

it's my opinion, if we all had the same opinion, it would be very boring.

Yes but on this board, we don't typically post in threads about characters we really don't like, unless that's what the thread is about. There is the odd Arya = stupid thread, you may feel quite comfortable posting in one of those.

I made this point in another thread. Arya has the perfect out back to Westeros coming to her in Braavos, the Mountain's remaining men are escorting the Master of Coin to negotiate with the Iron Bank. They may not be on her list, but our lovely little killer will most assuredly recognize them.

She'll delight in committing one faux pax after another in front of the lords, and they'll all have to smile at her and say nothing, if you know what I'm saying.

And "Her Grace" shall be her title. :smug:

Another beloved Martin irony.

Well, since Arya is being compared to such things as Batman and Dune now, it makes me more comfortable drawing out another comparison - the character Jen from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Both Arya and Jen are sword / warfare prodigies, with the skill set and instincts of a true killer (obviously). But what strikes me is how they mix impulsiveness with cunning, how full of indomitable rage they can be, how passionate in their beliefs, and how wilful in their rejection of the conventional life which is planned out for them. Both, despite their chaotic and wayward lives, have a great deal of courage and idealism inside them. Both in a way are seeking a sort of active inner peace, craving adventure, but often as a way of finding a life they truly belong in or where they do not have to compromise. The achilles heel of Arya and Jen's behavior is that those who know it and wish to manipulate them, can deliverately provoke or challenge them; at the same time, sometimes they both feel provoked and lash out when upset, a thing which those who care about them often inadvertently do, driving them away.

(Of course, it may be that Jen compares to Arya rather than the other way around, in chronological terms.)

 That is a great analogy.

I put this in the foreshadowing thread, but I'll put it here too.

I know this one's been done to death, but I'm going throw in my interpretation:

Jon to Arya:

"The longer you hide, the sterner the penance. You’ll be sewing all through winter. When the spring thaw comes, they will find your body with a needle still locked tight between your frozen fingers.”

I've seen a lot of people interpret 'body' as foreshadowing Arya's death, but I disagree. I think the use of 'body' means they might end up finding her body... but not her face (because she's wearing a different one but is hopefully still alive). 'Frozen fingers': I think the frozen here may indicate that Arya will be 'frozen' in time as a girl, like the waif we see in the house of black and white. The rest of it refers to Arya's revenge crusade in various ways.

Also, why hasn't this thread been shut down yet?

  • 6 months later...

Personally think she will be on her first assignment to Westeros. It is hinted that Euron has used FM in the past so all other opposers will be taken care of. Therfore it could be KL, Aegon or even Alyanne/Sansa that is targeted. The assasinate the sister scenario would be messed up. She thinks nothing of this Alyanne Stone until she sees Sansa.

I would like to see her reunited with Jon Snow. They seemed to have a certain chemistry out of the Stark children. That they were the only ones who fully understood each other as they were both outcast s to a certain extent and it brought them closer. I do hope they reunite even if it is for one last time.

Shameless plug :D

But seriously, Arya is so far out of the loop there is no telling what comes next for her. Last we hear she is being sent to Izembaro for further training. Not only do we not know who/what/where Izembaro is, we don't even know if Arya will make it to him/her/there. She seems to be good at getting lost along the way to where ever she is headed. I think the key is whether she scoops up Needle on her way out the door or not. If she does, then she is headed to Westeros. If she doesn't, then who knows :dunno: ?

I belive she is going to return to Winterfell, she wants to be with her pack...she has tried to re-form new packs but they don't last...she knows she needs to get back to her real "stark" pack. I think she will live life on her terms and marry someone of her own choosing, I don't think she will mind being grounded (thinking Gendry) who can handle who she is. She has been on the run for her life for quite a while...home would seem good to her.
