Can a Jon Snow + Daenerys romance work in the final book? Part 2

How I imagine Jon and Dany meeting:

Jon: I am Jon Snow.

Dany: And I am Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms....

- Jon wanders off, has a shave, walks with ghost, chats with the men, spars for a while, has a bath and wanders back -

Dany: ...Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains...

- Jon goes for a walk along the top of the Wall with Ghost. He walks for some time. He eventually stops, sits down and breaks out the Big Book of Sudoku. He does about half and then contemplates life and the Universe for a while, coming to the conclusion that they do not, in fact, live in the eye of a blue-eyed giant. He then wanders back again -

Dany: ...and Mother of Dragons!

Jon: Right. Can I just call you Dany?

Dany: No!

Jon: Yeah, this relationship will never work.

Drogo and Danny's romance was established in 1 book. There are romances between unlikely couples established in 1 chapter, sometimes 1 paragraph in ASOIAF. I am sure GRRM will manage if and when the time comes.

Jon has a type: Fierce, independent, intelligent women who do their own dirty job. Dany isn't one.

That describes Daenerys completely.

Remember Dany outsmarting the slavers, taking the whip in exchange for her Dragon and then calling for the dragon to roast the head slaver? I think that would qualify as Fierce, Independent and doing her own work.

Well. Jon was a teenaged virgin and basically the only semi-attractive female within a bazillion miles jumped his bones. Not sure we can conclude he has a "type" from that.

In any case, Dany has done plenty of "dirty work" on her own. Would you dispute that personally tending to plague victims is "dirty work?" How about entering the House of the Undying with no escort?

Some would say that is treachery, not outsmarting them.

As far as doing her own work, Jorah does a lot. Then Selmy. Reznak tortures people for information. Hizdar secures the "peace" in Mereen. Others crucify the 163.

By herself, she's smothered and burned Drogo and MMD, screwed Daario, betrayed those who negotiated in good faith (although for the point of abolishing slavery. I don't like the method, although the ends worked out with the unsullied), betrayed those who negotiated in good faith (battle outside Yunkai), and tamed a dragon. The last one is pretty cool. Aside from that, she doesn't hold a candle to Ygritte in terms of doing her own work. Fierce, I can see, although it's tempered unlike Ygritte's.

and we don't have nearly enough evidence to prove conclusively that they would hate each other.

Disagree we have 1 big evidence to prove Jon wouldn't like her.

Even if Viserys was a monster, watching her own brother burning and doing nothing to help him is still a disgusting act in Jon's eyes.

Also he's a Stark, so if she never learns about R+L=J she will despise him.

Yes sure. Depending on Drogo, Barry, Jorah, Daarion, Grey Worm, Missandei, Strong Belwas, dragons etc proves how independent she is and how much she does her own dirty work.

Wrong. Jon has shown to be attracted by a certain type of women

You are right. Being a warrior woman, staying alive, fight and live in a land were there are IceZombies is nothing compared to the *labours* Dany has done :bang: :bang: :bang:

So a 13 year old girl not stopping three huge barbarian warriors (and her husband) from killing her brother is disgusting?

How does Jon letting his love die in an attack on Castle Black, after he was the one who warned the Night's Watch about it rate?

Holding Daenerys accountable for Viserys' moronic behavior and death is insane.

So Jon doesn't command men? He doesn't have the Night's Watch do things?

You know what be a leader means right? It means you lead. You have to delegate. It is not appropriate for a Queen to those things herself.

Did Ned shoe his own Horses? Did Jaime saddle his own Horse? Did Blackfish clean his own stables?

Its ridiculous to use the fact that she is Queen against her. Her followers would not let her do those things, it was not a matter of her not willing to do them.

Being a leader also means that you let people who are better at things than you do what they are good at. Would it make sense for Daenerys to lead the Unsullied on the battlefield?

That would be something that Viserys or Joffery would do. Willfully doing dumb thing that cost people their lives is not a good thing for a ruler to be doing.

You mean the person that, in the course of the story, lead watches, went on rangings, tended to the LC's needs, lead the defense on the wall actively (including taking up a bow himself) didn't do any more work than Dany did. Dany is the queen that has done very little of her own work (not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but is definitely against what someone claimed above). Jon may be LC now, but he has done everything he asks his men to do, and is willing to do it himself.

I think it's just that Jon thinks badly of Ser Axell Florent because he stood by and let his brother burn. Jon may initially think badly of Dany for the same reason when he just hears that version (Dany let her husband kill her brother) but when/ if he learns the full details, he'll probably feel differently.

snip

Last time I checked Jon wasn't attracted to himself and or Ned or Jaime etc. So to bring them up is irrelevant and unneeded. And no being a leader doesn't mean that everything else do your work. Dany has done nothing she just orders people, Jon has done things and he keeps doing things even after becoming LC.

But Dany has done things. Again she single handily took Astapor. That was here with the Dragon. That was her taking the Unsullied and freeing them.
