How the novels end?

I was wondering if people had theories on how the novels will finish, not major things like end of the long night but rather what's on the last page and will things be resolved or left open.

For example the last paragraph could end with Arya adding someone to her never ending list, thus suggesting the story could never be truly resolved!?

There have been a number of topics like this, everything from Ned wakes up and it's all been a dream, through someone other than Dany riding a dragon into King's landing to claim the throne, to the Great Other seating himself on the Iron Throne. And don't forget Petyr of House Baelish, First of his Name, King of the Rhoynar, the Andals and the First Men, and his queen, Sansa.

For some reason, I have no idea why, but I have always suspected that the series would end with a wedding. I know George RR Martin loves to deconstruct tropes, so it would probably be a political wedding between two people who don't love each other. He has said that the ending would be bittersweet and to my mind this would fit.

The character's arcs have to fit into an ending for their journey is the story. I would like to see Winterfell and the Starks restored to their previous peace, The Nights Watch restored to glory and the Iron Throne melted. We could have magic truly leave the world or take a stronghold on everything. I doubt it will be a nice warm good triumphs over evil ending though.

Ending to the Mystical story: Lord Snow unites Magic Fire (Daenerys/ Dragons/ Red Magic) and Magic Ice (Bran/ Children of the Forest/ Warging) and in true biblical fashion, sacrifice himself to save all mankind.

Ending to the Political story: Tryion wins the Game of Thrones against Little Finger and Varys by screwing them over in their plans. He would give the realm the leadership it needs by being Kingmaker; uniting Fire (Aegon) and Ice (Sansa) (he will make sure that they are ready to rule) and cutting Varys and Little Finger out of the picture somehow.

I think that there still will be open questions at the end. But also I think that we will know the fate of most of the POVs. I'm with an option that there will be 7 (or more) kingdoms again and in this case we will know who are the kings and queens. And me too think that it could end with Bran as an epilogue POV in which -surprisingly- the epi POV doesn't die :D

Bittersweet suggests the others don't win. Unless there is a major plot shift they somehow become the "good" guys. Someone dying to save the realm seems really cliche, and GRRM writes anything but by the book. A loveless marriage to restore relative peace sounds about right, as any victory achieved by Jon/Daenarys/Sansa et al is likely to be won at a high cost.

I do like the idea of Arya consistently adding to her list and just continuing to hunt people down, and I can't see how the final epilogue belongs to anyone but Bran.

Never thought I'd be agreeing with a Sand Snake, but "it ends in blood, as it began"

It began with 3 men from the Night's Watch out ranging and getting into a spot of trouble with an Other or two. I sincerely hope we make considerable more progress than that after 7 friggin books.

How about 5 NW men, 1 Braavosi and 3 Others?

Edit: just for you, I'll throw in an ice spider.
