Wavey Sauce
The scene with him and Shireen could make grown men shed a tear. He loves his daughter so much. The whole "are you ashamed of me father" And then hearing the story about the doll and how people wanted her to be sent away to the stone men etc People who dont like Stannis have to like him a little bit more with that scene its hard not to
steinolav1
I liked him a lot already. I liked his morals, his sense of honor and all those things. BUT, I did not like how stern and angry he seemed to be. Seeing him open up to his daughter and talking about his feelings was heart-warming to say the least. And the hug at the end was wonderful. I actually didn't think he'd hug back. But he did! That was a great scene, one of the best of the episode in my opinion.
midi
I like him maybe 1 % more. Regardless, I think he's dead meat at the end of this season, or the start of the next one.
Ser Pounce FTW
The show is definitely making him more sympathetic as with a slew of other characters and that's fine. I do think sometimes the books are too grim and that being grim doesn't make it more realistic.

Udvarnoky
I agree that it's portentous that they've given Stannis such a tender scene. There are other clues as well. Tyrion has already witnessed followers of R'hllor in Essos naming Dany a Messiah. Mel obviously detects a certain lineage in Jon Snow that the scene in the Winterfell crypts all but screamed aloud. How long before the red priestess decides she's misread the lord of light's clues and switches over to Team Targaryen?

MadMouse@theTOJ
What that scene taught me is that Shireen's days are numbered, WHICH IS AWFUL!! But I don't think D&D can resist breaking Stannis' heart, as well as the heart of everyone watching the show .... again.
Lord Lannister
A rarity but this scene had me going "This should've been in the books."
LittleMissTyrell
Stannis was incredible in that episode it made my heart melt and it made feel for Shireen because her mother hates her, Selyse should be ashamed for not loving that child. I love Stannis 100 times more now.
Shadow Queen Medea
Well, I'm sure even the most brutal dictators throughout history still loved their sons and daughters for the most part. Just saying.....lol

KINGpanther
That scene forshadows Shireen's death at the hands of Mel. Stannis will live through season 5.
TheCasualObserver
At this point it's almost too little too late. I'll never forgive D&D for making it Melisandre who convinces Stannis to go north when he otherwise would have just executed Davos. Just terrible characterization. beerenee90
Wait... There are people out there that hate Stannis? Blasphemy.I did love this scene. The hug at the end was perfect. I'm pretty sure it means Stannis and Shireen are probably doomed, but hey. I stopped having feelings after the Red Wedding.
Liz Stark-Targaryen
I will rage if anything happens to Stannis or Shireen after that amazing scene.
