Seeing the makeup thread and not really having anything at all to say about makeup made me go in search of the regular shoe thread, only to find that in my absence it has not existed in a while. And only recently was that one about high heels and how they fuck up your feet, which isn't very shamelessly consumeristic. This must be amended. Please post about shoes you want, shoes you have, shoes you are looking for, or shoes you didn't even know you needed until now.

I'll start:

1) I really want some blue boots, particularly after seeing these. These might be more practical, though. If you see any blue boots that look moderatelystandable/walkable, I'm now in the market.

2) Despite having a fairly sizable collection of shoes of various kinds, anyone who has met me at Worldcon or some other time of hot weather has probably noticed that I could basically live in Chacos. So what is a girl to do when she finds out they now make custom sandals? Madness! (Also, they discontinued most of their closed-toed shoes, and now all those models are on sale. Someone stop me from buying all of them. :bang: )

I am looking for nice shoes for my wedding. I think I want flats, because I don't need the height from heels, I'd like to be able to walk and stand all day and because I know my boyfriend would really like to be taller than me that day.

All the fabulous shoes I've found so far are heels. I love heels. But that's not what I'm after. All the flats I've seen are ridiculously ugly - like these and they're not really flats either.

I'm going to have to think outside the box. Maybe look for some in a striking colout instead of white.

Anubiel, what is ridiculously ugly about them? :( I find them lovely (I am not buying any white shoes, though).

I have been wanting to have a pair of allstars for some time now, but cannot decide on a colour. I saw the colour I would like some days ago - lavender-ish violet - , but sadly they did not have my size (which is probably the reason they were on sale, they only still had very big sizes).

Tastes differ, obviously - what I don't like about them is the clunky heel and the bowthingy on the front.

Something like thisis what I'm after. I would have bought these, but I don't dare buy shoes online when I can't try them on and can't return them (without a lot of bother).

Ah, I like the heel. I am not a fan of the bowthingy on the front either, but I still like it better than those you linked - my favourite would be completely plain in the front, without any bows or patterns or shiny stones, like on the site you linked. As you said, tastes differ, as well they should. :)

Well I'm going to shamelessly add a male post. My main shoes are a pair of caterpillar steel toe cap boots, and my shoes for when I wear shorts are these pathetically thin trainer things that feel like they're made of cardboard, but I hate how sandals feel and I find most trainers horrifically ugly :crying: . I used to wear DM's but went off them, because they all wore out where the toe flexes, it was very annoying, in all other ways they were perfect but they would always split there.

I adore shoes, and am particularly loving a brand called BedStu. They are comfortable and stylish. They are also wickedly expensive, which is why I only have two pair.

Here's a pair of lovely boots.

I also really like these funky black dress shoes.

Please keep in mind that when I'm giving you suggestions, I'm spending your money for you, because I'm good at that. ;)

Blue boots for Kat.

A couple of years ago, Vera Wang did exactly what you're looking for. You can search for "Vera Wang flats" on ebay, or for "Miu Miu flats" as they also did a few fabulous pairs.

Not sure how the shipping would be to you, but this year, you could get this, this, this, or this. Alternatively, you could get something simple (here, here, or here) and add shoe clips.

If you really want to go far out, there's this pair. :P

This pair (worn by Sandra Bullock this week in Toronto) is for Xray, because I believe they qualify as aggressive pastels.

Seriously Angalin, you didn't do my wallet enough damage with those leather jackets you go linking those? I think I need these, these and although they are too high...these. Lucky for me I don't think they come in my size!

ETA: Apparently I'm getting sizing confused and they do come in my size. Ugh, damn you!

I have no mercy. :P I'm also not the No person you want to take shopping with you, or I wouldn't add these and these to the pile.

(fyi: if we all make it to London, there are shops we simply should not go)

I think I just increased the amount I need to have saved to make it to London by a significant amount >_< Those first ones are very nice, those second ones are absolutely in the need category. Brook you are a bad influence on my vocabulary! 6 months ago I scoffed at saying you needed boots, and look at me now.

ETA: Those last ones are on sale! And only have 3 sizes available! 2 of those sizes happen to be the likely size for me and the size for Brook. This seems evilly serendipitous.

omfg

I have four pairs of knee high boots, I really don't need another and I am going to keep telling myself that as I back away from the thread

I saved the best for last. :D

Haha, you are evil! The shoe clips are a great idea, I hadn't thought about that :)

I am seriously considering these. So cute! They come with blue stockings! But they're not flats. I suck at finding flats, 'cause I always end up looking at heels.

Those last ones are really pretty.

I'm really liking these at the moment:
