Ice Turtle
One of my favorite threads was closed due its length so I've decided to continue here From the Clash: And watch it they did. As the world darkened, the fire seemed to grow brighter and brighter, until it looked as though the whole north was ablaze. From time to time, they could even smell the smoke, though the wind held steady and the flames never got any closer. By dawn the fire had burned itself out, but none of them slept very well that night. That was actual quote, a little correction: And watch it they did. As the world darkened, the fire seemed to grow brighter and brighter, until it looked as though the whole north south was ablaze. From time to time, they could even smell the smoke, though the wind held steady and the flames never got any closer. By dawn the fire had burned itself out, but none of them slept very well that night.Interpretation:The long night gathers, the dragons will grow stronger, their fire consuming whole south but the winter winds will keep them away from the north and they they won't have any real influence there, by the end of the night/winter they will destroy themselves. Florina Laufeyson
Viserys bristled. "Guard your tongue, Mormont, or I'll have it out. I am no lesser man, I am the rightful Lord of the Seven Kingdoms. The dragon does not beg."Ser Jorah lowered his eyes respectfully. Illyrio smiled enigmatically and tore a wing from the duck.Illyrio's smirk there belies the fact he had a back up plan. Its a pretty subtle bit of foreshadowing but rather brilliant. I love little subtle ones the most.

richard_ba
Last chapters in ADWD are plenty of foreshadowingThere is a chapter in which Victarion passes through the isles of monkeys and they all aboard the ship, when they find moquorro, all the monkeys jump off the ship, and moqorro himself is almost a monkey (no offense meant, but he has a beard that covers his face like a lion), this means that a very dark orangotangus scared away every little chimp away. That was pretty chatchy, but what it means, I dunno/edit perhaps it is an indication towards Blackfyre arrival, every chimp that boarded the ship going to claim the throne, but when the dark fire (Blackfyre) arrived they all jumped off, meaning that when Aegon lands Westeros he is going to spread his little servants off, while he himself reserves to meet the Queen. Knight Of Winter
I don't know if this has been mentioned in first thread. In ADWD, in Jon I or Jon II, while Jon and Stannis negotiate about wildlings, Stannis get irritated and tells Jon:You haggle like a crone with a codfish, Lord Snow. Did Ned Stark father you on some fishwifeFew chapter later, in Davos I, lord Godric Borrell of Sweetsister tells Davos that during the Robert's rebellion Ned Stark spent some time with fishermen's daughter and left her with bag full of silver and bastard in her belly, who he later named Jon (after Jon Arryn). m_k
I was rereading GOT when a dream of Jon hit me as a foreshadowing. This dream takes place right after Jon took his vow as a member of NW." Last night he had dreamed the winterfell dream again. He was wandering the empty castle, searching for his father, descending into the crypts. Only this time the dream had gone further than before. In the dark he'd heard the scrape of stone on stone. When he turned he saw that the vaults were opening, one after the other. As the dead kings came stumbling from their cold black graves....."This might mean Jon have to wake the dead king to fight against the Other. And also in all through GOT jon kept dreaming about the crypt searching for his father, i believe he will find that information in Lyanna's grave, it might possibly be a Targaryen cloak which Rhaegar gave to her on the wedding. msheafer33
Tyrion likes bacon burnt black.Bacon/pork is suggestive of human flesh (as in the Frey pies). The suggestion of the consumption of burnt human flesh is one of Tyrion's many draconic foreshadowings.Tyrion remarks that he does not believe legends of dragons that speak.Foreshadows a future time when a dragon will speak.Varamyr Sixskins dies, but survives as a wolf.Foreshadows the moment when Tyrion will die, but survive as a dragon. Jon's Queen Consort
I doubt if this has not been said before but mine two fave are:Sansa: Sansa stared hard at his ugly face, remembering how he had thrown down her father for Ser Ilyn to behead, wishing she could hurt him, wishing that some hero would throw him down and cut off his head. But a voice inside her whispered, There are no heroes… Jon: The smile that Lord Janos Slynt smiled then had all the sweetness of rancid butter. Until Jon said, “Edd, fetch me a block,” and unsheathed Longclaw. Aemon:To Egg:"It takes a man to rule. An Aegon, not an Egg. Kill the boy and let the man be born."To Jon: Kill the boy, Jon Snow. Winter is almost upon us. Kill the boy and let the man be born.

What do you mean?Haha sorry for the confusion it should be "Cloak" not "clock"I was referring to the wedding ceremony where the groom gave his house cloak to the bride and viceversa. Scarlet Seastar
I never really thought of that...probably because I hadn't seen a northern wedding until ADWD(Ramsay and Jeyne/Arya).Well, that could be the proof that Jon is legitimate. However, people seem to think that many things are hidden down there.....This actually may foreshadow zombie Stark invasion of Bolton infested Winterfell, especially because Bran took some of the iron swords in the crypts, swords that were supposed to keep the dead from rising.I don't remember anyone saying that iron swords keep the dead from rising.....I just always thought that it was a Stark ritual or something.....correct me if I am wrong.May be the dead kings rising in his dream could foreshadow some demons from the past coming to haunt him-his heritage and true identity perhaps.... The oldest had long ago rusted away to nothing, leaving only a few red stains where the metal had rested on stone. Ned wondered if that meant those ghosts were free to roam the castle now. He hoped not. The first Lords of Winterfell had been men hard as the land they ruled. In the centuries before the Dragonlords came over the sea, they had sworn allegiance to no man, styling themselves the Kings in the North." BranRaven
One of the House of the Undying prophecies mentioned a dead man on the prow of a ship, and a second prophesy discussed a great stone dragon. Could these be prophesies that have never happened, or would have (similar to Rhaego) but were undone by some other means? The dead man could still refer to Jon Connington succumbing to greyscale, or even to Victarion assuming his wound festers. The stone dragon could easily refer to the dragons Melisandre sought to revive on Dragonstone with Edric Storm's sacrifice, or the the mysterious dragon at Winterfell... The Wolves
When Jon told Sam that he dreamed of his father and Robb at a feast but he didn't have a place beside them yet. Sam said this was a feast for the dead and that Jon had no place yet because he was of the living, than Jon goes and get stabbed. :-(
tze
In The Sworn Sword, Ser Eustace Osgrey tells the tale of "the Little Lion", who defended the Reach against King Lancel of the Rock. I wonder if this story contains hints as to a future clash between Tyrion and Lancel? Tyrion explicitly calls himself a "little lion" (and in TSS, Bennis flat-out asks Ser Eustace if the "little lion" was a dwarf); King Lancel supposedly "cut [the Little Lion] near in half", and Tyrion is of course called "Halfman" by the mountain clans. The battle told of in TSS was between two "lions" (the golden lion and the chequy), and both Lancel and Tyrion are "lions" of Lannister. King Lancel dies when the Little Lion finds a gap in his armor (beneath the arm) and stabs him with a dagger. Tyrion, due to his size, is better with a dagger than a sword (and we saw him arming himself with a dirk when he joined the Second Sons). Perhaps this is a hint that Tyrion will be the one to kill Lancel?
Winter's Knight
I am not sure what to make of this but it amused me: In Storm, when Tyrion suggests that Loras was young and may have wanted to get married later, he replies with:"When the sun has set, no candle can replace it."In Dance, Vic while musing that the dusky woman was enough for him till he gets to Dany, he states:"No man had need of candles when the sun awaited him."
