A Compendium of Theories

First, kudos for this great compendium

Again, feel free to add theories or just ideas to the missing theories list.

Also, if anyone feels like editing/adding/adjusting the descriptions of the plots, I'd be more than happy to change them (I haven't always read the theories, so I'm sometimes just skimming to get a good summary).

Here're some threads debating HM in Wintrefell:

http://asoiaf.wester...ch&fromsearch=1

Here's one which discusses LF's possible morives and endgames (3 parts):

http://towerofthehan...-and/index.html

http://towerofthehan...came/index.html

And if you want to include older theories, I'd like to add couple of half-crazy half-genius theories by user Nightfyler:

http://asoiaf.wester...greatest-crime/ - Varys framed Antler Men in order to supress middle class

http://asoiaf.wester...der-that-wasnt/ - Old Gods favour Stark family

Thank you for assembling all those together, I'll be sure to post here if I come accross some well founded theories that aren't on the list.

And I think this thread should be pinned as it would be something many people look for.

Thanks - would love if the Mods pinned it!

Thank you. I bookmarked this page. Please do the Benjen one asap :)

Also Hooded Man in Winterfell :)

Maybe add theories for Hardhome and the fate of The Wall?

Will be looking into all of them. I haven't heard of any great theories about Hardhome or the Wall (beyond just lots of speculation), but I'll search for them.

Thanks for the kudos and the additions.

Your first link didn't work (as it seems to be a search), but I'll find it. I added the TotH links.

I also added the somewhat crackpot theories of Nightflyer (maybe they'll inspire someone to look further into them), but if people don't think their worthy of being in the list, I'll take them out.

Fantastic work, and good luck getting and keeping it up to date.

Have a "like"

Haha, yes, we'll see how long I can do it.

Here's a Jeyne theory discussion thread. It may not be the right one though.

Jeyne Westerling Theory

Thanks - I may stick with the current link I have because it's pretty extensive, though this did make me realize I should probably add her name to the label so people notice it.

Nice job, you made it easier to follow the theories, speically since their threads are very long.

My intent exactly. While I love reading the theories, it's hard if you're newer on here to trawl through 20 pages of posts to understand what theory is or what the current level of debate on the theory is.

Thanks! Added some, had some others, some I left out because I felt like they were just one sentence theories (or one piece-evidence theories).

For (F)Aegon, I'd really love a highly detailed post that went back into the Blackfyre rebellions, included something about the potential of Varys/Serra/Illyrio, and then got into Young Griff.

Thanks Lady.

As a note: I've decided to not add an Arthur Dayne is Alive thread - I haven't found a really good detailed explanation other than a few random thoughts. It seems like most of the thought behind it comes from Bran's recollection of Ned's ambiguous thought: "They called him the Sword of the Morning, and he would have killed me but for Howland Reed. (ACOK, 332)”

But after finding the following, I don't really see it anymore unless somehow Ned didn't realize the switch of AD for HR himself:

"Ned had pulled the tower down afterward, and used its bloody stones to build eight cairns upon the ridge. It was said that Rhaegar had named that place the tower of joy, but for Ned it was a bitter memory. They had been seven against three, yet only two had lived to ride away; Eddard Stark himself and the little crannogman, Howland Reed. (AGOT, 427)"

I know this thread isn't for judging theories, but unless I can get a really well put together one on AD/HR, I'm leaning on leaving it out - Let me know what you think

You have done a lot of work and taken a lot of time putting this together. This is excellent work. I intend to add as I remember or reread on the different topics. Will also look forward to all of the replies and research by other members.

Thank you for starting this. It's nice to be able to access them all like this.

I'll try to look through and see what else I can dig up the next time I have some free time.

Cheers all.

Thanks, I found Part 1, 2, 3... but honestly haven't really been satisfied with any of them (I don't have the energy to read through all of them) as well thought theories (there may be something hidden in the pages upon pages). Mostly they seem to be a list of like 10 different people with a sentence or two as to why.

Here's a reread of Mormont's raven. I couldn't find a theory thread, just a reread project.

Mormont's Raven Reread

I've been reading that recently - really interesting stuff. There's definitely something more to his raven (being warged by 3EC?). I would love to see a complete analysis of the raven and his corn harping (which I have to believe means something else or is a bastardization of another word).
