Masters of the Air (new WWII AppleTV series) [SPOILERS]
DireWolfSpirit replied to Corvinus85's topic in Entertainment
I loved the pilots spontaneous out loud laughter when the mission director advised the Tuskegee Airmen to try and blend in with the local Germans when they run out of fuel. -

Oscars 2024: The Zone of BARBENHEIMER (LIVE)
DireWolfSpirit replied to Mladen's topic in Entertainment
So actually Scorcese work has notched more than a few wins, its not like hes gone totally un-awarded. I forgot about Raging Bull. Nevertheless KOTFM hopefully only gets the one nod for Ms Gladstone and the rest properly put to rest. Also agreeing with Best Score to Ludwig Göransson who is gold in all he touches apparently. -

Music New- "Listen to me Good Baby!"

Nonsense, Plant loves Mary's vocals on it and has said as much in interviews in a authentic manner. -

Yeah on covers and gatekeeping etc. A fair amount of older prog rock fans protested MJB covering Stairway to Heaven with commentary like they were purists and she sounds awful and so forth. Funny thing was Robert Plant loved it and at that time Mary was the only artist Zeppelin had ever officially endorsed recording the iconic tune. Personally I find Ms Blige's rendition stirring, electric and def worthy. Also the same for Miley Cyrus, she can sing anything she wants and totally own that shit imo. -
Its really difficult to parse out the differences between Xtians and Islamist when they set their eyes on persecuting the LGBTQ, they being pretty similarly just different shades on a ugly stone imo.

I have no problem with hearing reports of Ukranians killing Russians and have been regularly thumbing the "Like" button on those for the past year or however long weve been doing Ukraine threads. I actively enjoy the invaders failing, with thier lives as the price, and sleep fabulously taking that side. -
US Politics: The sides have gotten… weird
DireWolfSpirit replied to Ser Scot A Ellison's topic in General Chatter
While I have little doubt Trump has policy for sale, I have no idea what you mean by "most likely around unions"? There are some problems with rank and file idiots that are deluded enough to believe Republicans have something to offer, the majority of Internationals still understand that Trump is a wolf in sheeps clothing and is not a friend to Labor. A few renegade Unions not withstanding, weve rarely had 100% uniformity, but the majority of National leadership will still be funding Democrats, were not going to bail the Orange pos. -

Well HuffPost is reporting that the uncommitted vote exceeded Michigans 13% in some states, Minnesota had 19% for instance. From the article- Its not just Michigan Just a week after proponents of a permanent cease-fire in Gaza got more than 100,000 Michiganders to cast ballots for “uncommitted” rather than for President Joe Biden, the movement pulled off a similarly impressive feat in Minnesota. With more than 95% of ballots counted, “uncommitted” had received nearly 46,000 votes in Minnesota’s Democratic presidential primary ― more than 19% of the total votes cast ― while Biden was leading with 171,000. Since Michigan is a bigger state, “uncommitted” actually got a smaller percentage of the vote there (13%) than in Minnesota. -

I kind of anticipate a historic low for turnout as pecentage of elgible voters. -

Really pleased "The Creator" is nominated for Best Visual Effects. I thought that it was a little better than a lot of people who apparently didnt widely watch it, under the radar entertaining so to speak, at least for me. Eta: Just a little aside the majority of posters here probably realize, but more than a few U.S. midwesterners may be surprized to realize, Cillian is actually pronounced as we would say Killian, something I never realized till post Peaky Blinder days for him lol. -
Dune part 2: the spoilers must flow (Spoilers for the movies)
DireWolfSpirit replied to Kalbear's topic in Entertainment
Havent read the books, but it seemed to me Paul wasnt inclined to use the nukes against other houses as much as use them as negotiation for a peaceful ascendancy, kind of the whole point of not killing the Emperor and proposing his daughters betrothal. He wanted to avoid a large scale conflict if possible. The reply of his ascendancy not being accepted really sets up the table for large scale jihad/conflict in the next chapter. Personally I thought when his proposal was spurned I thought he should have buried that blade in Walkens skull, ditched the daughter and rode off with Zendaya right then and there. The way the movie played it out, half the people i've talked with now think Zendaya is going to not only raise her own army, but also turn it against Paul, she is now feeling like the scorned Freman. Like I said I need a second viewing to more finalize my impressions for the last quarter of this movie. Still I dont get how you watch this and not enjoy it, the audience love from this area has been a wide range from young to old and between aged movie goers. -

I live in a country with a justice system that does not share my values. Consider me here to pillage and take what I want from it, with no allegiance or duty to it. -

April 8, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse
DireWolfSpirit replied to SpaceChampion's topic in General Chatter
I wonder how viewing will be from the West shore of Lake Michigans Green Bay? Eta: Ah here it is- On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will sweep across North America, including Wisconsin. The partial eclipse will begin at 12:52 PM and end at 3:22 PM in Wisconsin. The sun will be 90% eclipsed in Wisconsin at 2:08 PM on April 8. -
Havent read the latest comments yet, but I saw pt 2 this afternoon and loved it. I could use a rewatch of the last stretch on, where they went South though, a few motivations and details were a little less than obvious for me. As a non book reader im okay being left with a few questions to uncover though, keeps me motivated to view a 2nd time in the near future. Eta: Now having read all comments, Im getting a chuckle of of so many others also saying they want to see it again very soon.

International thread is locked so im posting this news here. The Houthi rebels have managed to sink a Red Sea cargo vessel. The reason I consider that noteworthy is that its their first success after dozens of attack attempts. The Naval performance in that theatre has been simply outstanding, shooting down drones, taking out launch platforms, anti-mine and decoy, thwarting all comers. The terrorists only have to get lucky once, thankfully our brave sailors are out there protecting navigation with a 99% success rate. -

"Put simply, will she really force a presidential nominee to sit in court in the final days of a campaign rather than hit the trail in Wisconsin?" SHE GODDAMN WELL BETTER!! -
So if I understand the spoilers are to be 4 days for these episodes? So no longer required for the first two episodes as of Saturday March 2. My brother in law is from Osaka and much of the family visited before they moved to America. Osaka castle seemed to greatly impress everyone. I hope (bil)Yoshi gets to enjoy these episodes
