  1. Very mild trypophobia. Not so strong that I can't rationalize myself through it, but ... I think it was unlocked by watching the scene in the Flash Gordon movie where they put their arms in the rock thing, and there's a monster in there that stings you, or whatever it was. What really gets to me though is stuff living inside skin. Botfly larvae and the surinam toad spring to mind.
  2. Useless factoid of the day: Oslo is _by far_ Norway's largest city. Something like 1/8 Norwegians live there. The only club hailing from Oslo in our top division this season is... the YMCA (KFUM Oslo).
  3. "Wake up babe, new centaur just dropped."
  4. Damn, you're right; though Sesko was definitely onside when the shot-turned-pass was made, seeing it again now, Henrichs was probably sufficiently involved there, by blocking Lunin's movement. At the time, I felt he was just standing in the periphery. Guess it depends on what constitutes sufficient interference with play, but yeah... Perhaps it would help if the referee/VAR had the chance to communicate their reasoning. They might have done, for all I know, via TV commentators elsewhere. The Norwegian commentator did not, which definitely tracks. He's just a dude in a studio, after all.
  5. RB Leipzig robbed by VAR two minutes in. In no way could that be offside. Edit: Not a free kick either.
  6. We are masters at manifesting impoverishment in the face of obscene wealth. Hockey rinks are expensive to build/run, and hockey gear is expensive for parents.
  7. I read somewhere (on the internet, so it must be true) of people who leave money in charity shop items as an anonymous gift.
  8. I've been donating blood more or less regularly since 2008. They told me it was my 25th donation sometime last year, iirc. It's usually either platelets/plasma/red blood cells they want. The apheresis takes about twice as long as a regular whole blood donation, but that's no issue for me. In addition to all the other rules, 'men who have sex with men' previously had to wait 12 months after a new sexual encounter. That's now been reduced to 6 months, same as for everyone else.
  9. Baked cinnamon buns today. Sizeable ones. So far, I've eaten six. Oh well, death comes for us all, I guess.
  10. Two stiff arms into a defender's back to "win" a header has to be a free kick, otherwise football is not a game of skill.
  11. Apropos of nothing, as an economics dum-dum, I found this informative.
  12. And you're not getting what I'm saying. We're not as good as Croatia of the last decade, currently or ever. The proof is in the pudding. What I'm saying is, I don't even care if we progress from a tournament group stage at this point, much less go deep - just *qualify*. Is that so much to ask? Have a couple of games where we're not teeter-tottering against on paper much weaker teams, and maybe even cause some problems for decidedly stronger ones, you know? Like, ever?
  13. It's been 23 years since we last played in a WC/EC. All I'm saying is that we should at least be able to qualify for something at some point. That shouldn't be out of reach for this squad, in this group, though Spain should definitely win the group on average. I mentioned Portugal thinking specifically of their recent EC winning side, with some high level stars and solid-but-not Earth-shattering players elsewhere. Not even arguing that our players are better, just that it should be enough to qualify. Croatia took third and second place in the last two WCs, which many would call "punching above one's weight". So why are they very, very good, while we are utter, utter shit? Again, not saying we're better, just...
  14. Too true, but I feel like teams like Portugal and especially Croatia have done much, much more with a similar outset in recent history. People say that Belgium wasted their golden generation - but hell, at least they managed to qualify for stuff, so what do we call this?
  15. Østigård does well for Napoli, Ryerson for Dortmund, Ajer for Brentford, Berge for Burnley, Aursnes for Benfica, Bobb for Man City, Sørloth in La Liga... Not superstars, but they hold their own. Just can't get things to gel, it seems. I'd be shocked if Nusa stays at Brugge for long, too. Really exciting player.
  16. Sad to see that arguably the best Norwegian team in decades simply isn't able to hang with a Spain that's giving at most 80 %.
  17. 1966. Tho 1996 might have been the year when I wrote an essay in English class on the BPP, so...
  18. Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman et al pulling a prank on Daniel Radcliffe on set.
  19. Norway has 50 plus wolves, some roam between here and Sweden. They kill a few hundred sheep per year. (Lynx, bears, wolverines and eagles nab some as well.) The number varies year by year, since it's mostly young wolves striking out on their own, looking for their own territory that stray out of the wild and into agricultural areas. Personally I'm not sure the UK is that suited for wolves, since true wilderness areas are small and scattered. Wolfpacks roam over HUGE areas, and there's inbreeding issues even here.
  20. Obviously, I can't say wether it's incompetence, malice, coincidence or whatever, but someone took the time to add in those jarring sounds. And yes, I interpret that as an attempt at creating ill will towards the content of the speech. Maybe I just hate the sudden sound of loud static. Tracing the origins of the video would be a hopeless task, videos are "stolen" all the time, reuploaded hither and thither. And I used chumming to allude to the (some would say) lazy and low-effort sport fishing technique of repeatedly chumming an area to attract large amounts of fish, that you then try to catch.
