GRRM apparently confirms no TWOW this year

But the Unsullied will shower us with sweet revenge by spoiling the upcoming events.

Some of us might deserve it.

But if indeed the show overpasses the books, I wonder what are they are going to do? Let's say R+L=J is actually true and show runners know. Will they go with it and completely spoil one of the books biggest mystery, will they simply say "oh, well, it really dosn't matter because Ned was your "true" father all along because he raised you" or invent a mother? They can't have an ending before books.

If he keeps getting progressively slower at the release of each new book, he is lying to himself if he thinks the show won't catchup. Unless Weiss and Beniof decide to stop for a moment and do like a prequel(Robert's rebelion?) or something, like Spartacus did with gods of the arena, although i find that extremely unlikely.

It's been proposed and Weiss and Beniof shot the notion down, in part because the child actors are aging fast.

I don't trust any translated sources. Especially not Brazilian media. No offense to Brazil.

None taken. I'm brazilian myself and I don't trust our media particularly regarding translations - I always opt to read english authors in the original language.

That being said, the referred news site is well-known and usually has a certain quality standard... Also, all the other responses from GRRM are accurate to what he said in other interviews so far, so I think the translation for this particular question should be correct... But that doesn't mean that GRRM prediction is accurate...

Morbid but at least if the series actually is never finished, W&B can eventually give us some form of closure from the road map GRRM provides them.

That's how I feel about it.

I think calling it one of the book's biggest mysteries, would be a bit of an overstatement-its pretty much all but canon now for obsessive ASOIAF fans by now...and of course Jon's Targaryen ancestry is bound to be HUGELY relevant to future events.

Im brazilian and I love it here. But you should never, never trust our big media. They're not only professional liars, they also don't really care if what they publish has any quality at all.

Well since there's no reason to do rereads this year it's time to go back to porn. That means I'll be away for 6-10 months and I'll see you again for Christmas. You've been a great internet. Goodbye now.

LOL

I just finished the series in November and was worried if the TWOW comes out at years' end I'd have to start re-reading very shortly. Now I have time to read other stuff. Namely Ellen Kushner's Riverside series.

If the show catches up, all they really need to do is film the later seasons and then sit on them for a year or two before airing them.

That solves the problem of the kids growing up too fast and doesn't spoil the last two books.

HBO had 2 or 3 years between seasons of The Sopranos, so it isn't all that unrealistic.

I just hope his 2015 estimate is corrector for TWOW.

No surprise there. At least we know what will be the general points of TWOW by 2016 either way. Whether that is through the books or the show is to be determined. I still think GRRM can beat the show to the sixth book. But for the entire story, no chance. Gonna be weird watching GOT with people and not knowing what will happen next

*mod hat* Ok, folks, if you are simply not going to listen to a request not to not turn this into a complaint fest about GRRM's writing pace, then the thread is not going to continue. While we would all love to have TWOW in our hands soon, we also respect that GRRM has a life to live that his is balancing with working diligently on his writing. While you may feel differently, and you are entitled to your opinion, keep it off this forum. To quote Neil Giaman, "George Martin is not your bitch". As such, this thread is closed. Cheers */mod hat*
