Free Northman Reborn
According to YouGov: there are only 6% between the two. As someone who lives in Scotland it seems like anything but a forgone conclusion. No is more likely but it could all change depending on what is said between now and 18th or what the turnout is. Sounds like there is still hope, then.
The BlackBear
Sounds like there is still hope, then. I can understand the arguments for independence from people living in Scotland (and Ex pats abroad) (even if I don't agree with them.) But what are your reasons? MinDonner
Extra weird, given that a lot of the Yes campaign's rhetoric has been around saving Scotland from the terrible right-wing anti-Europe NHS-destroying govt of the UK. Shouldn't Free Northman be in favour of a No to stop the rise of socialism?

Free Northman Reborn
I can understand the arguments for independence from people living in Scotland (and Ex pats abroad) (even if I don't agree with them.) But what are your reasons? I'm a romantic at heart. (Smiley face) More importantly, I'm strongly in favour of self determination for separate cultures all over the world. If there is a cultural or ethnic group fighting for independence from a larger, multicultural nation state, I will almost always be in favour of it. That's why I am also strongly in favour of Nigel Farrage's UKIP party in England. An added bonus of Scottish independence - and it really is just a bonus, not part of the primary reason I support them - is that it would probably move Britain itself - a major player in world affairs - slightly to the right, given the loss of such a large left leaning component of the voter base. Maltaran
Now that is a contradiction, UKIP are one of the staunchest pro-Union parties out there.
Slick Mongoose
I'm sad now :(Any idea when the poll's coming out? Poll's out, yes has a 1 point lead. http://ukpollingreport.co.uk/blog/archives/8957

Slick Mongoose
At least it will help with the overcrowding of parliament..... I guess we should point out that this is only 1 poll out of many?

williamjm
Poll's out, yes has a 1 point lead. I hope that whichever way it turns out the final result is a bit more decisive than just a 1 percent lead either way, it should make it easier for people to accept whatever the result is. I guess we should point out that this is only 1 poll out of many? There's apparently another poll due out, it'll be interesting to see if they have similar numbers. Either way I'm sure it'll give the Yes Campaign huge encouragement, Better Together must be starting to get a bit desperate at how their leads seems to be evaporating and they don't seem to have any clue about what to do about it, their opponents are certainly campaigning better. Alex.
In other news, the BBC are still steadfastly mentioning as little about NHS privatisation and the NHS marches as is possible. For fucks sake.ETA: and, for the interest of balance, so are most of the rest of the media. MinDonner
Yeah. It is funny how these advocates of self-determination only seem to support it when countries want to separate, not so much when they want to join up. williamjm
Another referendum poll out today says 48% Yes 52% No, which is probably within the margin of error of the YouGov poll.
