Old Nan says in the beginning of AGOT that the magic of the wall only lasts as long as the men of the NW hold true to their vows... Idk what is going to happen really but If the watch was in the right to stab Jon, than the watches LC must have violated his own oath, so I think there is at least room to speculate that the watch is no longer holding to its vows, or at least won't be holding to them soon. I'm kind of confused on that theory Some people see a parallel between the way the Night's King was ensorcelled by his pale blue eyed queen and what's happening with Stannis and Melisandre. I imagine this might tie into the theory too? (I'm not familiar with it so I could be wrong): That night she dreamt that she was Rhaegar, riding to the Trident. But she was mounted on a dragon, not a horse. When she saw the Usurper’s rebel host across the river they were armored all in ice, but she bathed them in dragonfire and they melted away like dew and turned the Trident into a torrent. Some small part of her knew that she was dreaming, but another part exulted. This is how it was meant to be. The other was a nightmare, and I have only now awakened.
