teemo
Rhaenyra's side: her father named her heir, and he is king and could do what he wanted, regardless of past tradition placing a male over a female. Aegon II's side: based on the Second Quarrel and the Great Council of 101AC, a man always takes place before a woman. I've always felt that the whole Dance of Dragons could have been avoided if Viserys I didn't insist on making Rhaenyra his heir. That caused all sorts of problems and he should haverealized that leaving behind two women with dragons fighting over succession would be a recipe for disaster. It just wasn't very forward thinking and he should have waited to name Aegon II heir imo or not have had any more legitimate children after Rhaenyra. Also, if Rhaenyra had become Queen then her own heir was a bastard, and her next two eldest sons after him. What she did was pretty dishonorable to her line (come on, they were obviously Harwin's kids), and makes me think of supporting Cersei's kids' claims to the throne. Anyway, opinions? Edit: I'm personally a little torn, but lean towards the Blacks.
The Wolves
The Blacks. Viserys named his oldest child Rhaenyra his heir that should have been the end of it. Why should Aegon II take precedence over Rhaenyra when the king who have the right to choose his heir chose Rhaenyra. Viserys shouldn't have remarried it did the realm no good but give Aliscent and her greedy father a way to grab ahold of that ugly chair. I'm glad Aliscent and her line all was wiped out and Rhaenyra's son and line continued to sit the throne that was a just reward for starting a war. Winterfell is Burning
I support no side. Pretty much all the main players were scum. That said, I agree with teemo: I've always felt that the whole Dance of Dragons could have been avoided if Viserys I didn't insist on making Rhaenyra his heir. That caused all sorts of problems and he should of realized that leaving behind two women with dragons fighting over succession would be a recipe for disaster. I didn't realized until reading this that Viserys is just like Balon, insisting on nominating his daughter as heir when every single other person around knew she wouldn't be able to be ruling Queen, at least not with a civil war. JonCon's Red Beard
What's wrong with naming a female heir? Aegon definitely didn't mind leaving his wives in charge of ruling. And Viserys was preparing Rhaeneyra to be a Queen, he was shaping her since she was very young. She had every right to be mad and declaring war. And, besides, it was the King's wishes and will to have her as heir. He didn't ask some impossible, just having his first born child to succeed him :dunno:

If he really wanted Rhaenyra to successfully succeed him he shouldn't have had any more legitimate children.

King Brandon Ice Eyes
I support no side. Pretty much all the main players were scum.I agree. Fuck that generation of Targs! They were just as bad as the current Lannisters. With that said I would support the legitimate heir but in this case I really don't know who is. Viserys really should have been more thoughtful about all that. Couldn't he take the time to revoke the law about male precedence? He should have known he was creating more ambiguity in the matters of succession. Even if Rhaenyra suffered no opposition some conflict would surely be waiting down the line in future generations with two major contradictory legal precedents fueling different part's greed. BitsOfBrains
I just really dislike Rhaenyra. If she has not lied about her bastards paternity there would have been no dance. Because of her infidelity and lies THOUSANDS of people died. Jahaerys had innocent peoples tongues cut out on her behalf for their truths but the iron throne knew the deal and cut him for it. Then when she green lit Adam Hull and Nettles that was just as bad. She is kind of a Cersei character except she did seem to have the ability to be pleasant at times. I personally don't have anything against bastards, but in the context of ASoIaF its a big deal and putting bastards in the line of succession unbeknownst to the king was major treason. Unfortunately I really like Daemon and his daughter, but still I have to be a Queen backer.

Fat Mac
Yeah, Rhaenyra does remind me a bit of Cersei!! Always has. There's really strong Cersei parallels with both Rhaenyra and Alicent. That being said, I support no side.

I donno, I thought Alicent seemed like a nice girl. Reading books to the old dying king. I see her more as a MArgery Tyrel type. Genuinely a nice person and good wife but also politically savy. As it was, he was trying to have his cake and eat it too. Also, neither Visenya nor Rhaenys had much official power, nor, most importantly, anyone with dragons opposing them And every historical precedent defined that Viserys could not name a woman as his heir, He was the only one person in the realm that didn't see it would lead to war. Skinner
Probably, if I'm just a simple lordling, I declare for Aegon II on the precedent of Andal succession. If my Paramount declares for Rhaenyra however, so will I

Barty
Greens for the following reasons1. Daemon was a power hungry asshole who would be the real power behind the throne and it is clear he was a real threat to Alicent and her children even if they agreed to make Rhaenyra Queen2. Rhaenyra was a bitch and her children were bastards (the Cersei parallel is very clear). And she had the makings of a mad Queen.3. The great Council and the law were clear. Viserys was a fool

JonCon's Red Beard
even if Rhaenery's children were bastards, they still carried Targaryen blood. The claim of Cersei's children, otoh, come from being Robert's children, and they had not even a little bit of Baratheon's blood. Not the same case.
