Raisin' Bran
@Julia H. I liked the "courage overcomes" but you did fine in the round Gendry's other house words (I used "Forging steadily") Forever surly (no explanation needed) Total victory (very generic, not terribly clever) Working for higher kingdom (kind of what Gabe did, but more religious context than political, 70%/30%) Bells chime, offering safety (referring to two Gendry moments, one in Stony Sept at the Peach, and the other at the Inn at the Crossroads)
Dolorous Gabe
Brilliant leftovers there from all three of you, thanks for sharing. The one I submitted came incredibly quickly and I didn't dwell on it much longer. Similar to others, I had Forging Strength. Also Terra Vulcan, which I liked the idea of but has the obvious flaw of incorporating real world mythology rather than Westerosi mythology. a free shadow
I had Furious steel and I liked it more than my entry, but left it behind for research purposes!
Lady Blizzardborn
I like Burning Comes Our Steel best. I actually liked the AAR reference, but it doesn't seem like Gendry is going to be AAR...if he were he might have to sacrifice Arya and I don't like that idea. Oh, no, I didn't mean to imply that Gendry is actually AAR, only that he has those associations.
Lady Blizzardborn
Maybe should have used one of these for Brown Ben... Tertiary dragons. Targaryen derived. Dawning wise. Delayed winning. Heirs to tactical success. Honor's toast. Try scheming. Glory awaits my fate. Glory and Might, flaming. Gone are my fears. Glorious are my flaws. They are all good ideas, Lady B, but I think I like these ones the most. Also enjoyed the last one I had: High The Towering Son True Deceit Honest To The Stage and a few jokey ones: Hells To The Sellswords Hightails The Turncloak Son Here The Trust Stops
Julia H.
@Lady Blizzardborn, I love Honor's toast. Try scheming. I also really like: Heirs to tactical success. @Dolorous Gabe They are all good ones. The last one cracked me up. Very appropriate. Mine were: Dancing Warriors (reference to the dance of the dragons with Dany) Hunting Treasure Taken Seriously Hard Times, Tough Seed (reference to their noble bastard / Targaryen origin) History Taught to Survive Hardened Through Tough Service Hardened. Tenacious. True. Stalwart. (highly ironic, this one) Hunting Treasure Through Sacking Hopeful Through the Sewage (I liked this one, but I didn't think Ben would actually choose something like this.) Games are More Fun Gold and Monetary Funds Gold and Mercenary Fight Games and Mercenary Fights Hundred Tips to Survive (This was another candidate I actually considered.) Fragile Bird
My first round leftovers for Gendry: Toujours vertueux Always virtuous. It's French, I know, but House words sound better in French Faithful Servants Without fail hammers kill I really had no leftovers for Plumm, just variations for the t word, like terrific dicks, tremendous dicks, travelling dicks. I was sort of surprised no one else had used dick.... DG, I just loved Here the Trust Stops!

Although I'm pretty happy with the one I submitted and it did well enough. Our delightful host Castellan and I did decide that Hightails would be a good name for Brown Ben's seat

True Deceit is so appropriate, not to mention being an oxymoron. 4 hours ago, Julia H. said: Dancing Warriors (reference to the dance of the dragons with Dany) Hard Times, Tough Seed (reference to their noble bastard / Targaryen origin) Hopeful Through the Sewage (I liked this one, but I didn't think Ben would actually choose something like this.) Thank you, Julia. I like these three of yours. I can't help laughing at the sewage one. The other two are very good! Either of them would have made my vote list. 1 hour ago, Fragile Bird said: My first round leftovers for Gendry: Toujours vertueux Always virtuous. That reminds me, my sister came up with a family motto for some of her characters, and it was also better in French: Dignité sans vertu.
Castellan
I am impressed with how creative everyone is and the number of competing good entries you send. I had my own little idea for Brown Ben - Dun Wandering - as in the twee cottage names. Also he is dun of course. I think he really really would love the security of a castle and lordship in Westeros. Dolorous Gabe
I should have tried harder for Hot Pie but I was tempted to submit: Promised One (playing on the pie that was promised) On 02/02/2018 at 9:09 AM, Jez Bell said: and for Ben: Gold adorns my fruit I agree with Bran, this is really good!
