I was watching this film the other day, and it really struck me how committed and brave this young couple is. It is not everyday that Hollywood sends a Pro marriage message. This is a bout a couple who resist divorce. Part of the reason I believe why divorces are so high, is that so many people dont have strong morals, and have values and role models that come from MTV, "Sex in the City" and "Entourage" among other places. Pornography is a struggle for quite a bit of people, but some find prayer helpful in overcoming that. In all seriousness, while I liked the films message, I thought the film was very poorly executed. It was also quite patronizing to the female, "little wife" character. The film did not depict a fighting couple, cooperating together to try and overcome their relationship issues. Instead it was Kirk Cameron being a brave "manly man" and making darned sure his wife knows he is nice to her, while she, basically does nothing. By placing the burden on the husband to save the marriage, its somewhat demeaning to and patronizing of the wife, saying she is just this poor,silly little creature, who is too frazzled to have a mature/meaningful conversations about their problems.
