What if Lyanna has a direwolf?

a bad person? have you ever seen teenagers in love? Have you ever had sex before you were 18? I bet not, young teens in love think with their body parts not their heads

That's no excuse; teenagers still know right from wrong. Screwing over your family is wrong, as is sleeping with a married man.

This is Westeros. 15 years old is a very mature age, many women were mothers in this age.

And also she is supposed to be one of the highest born women in the country.

Do you think Prince William of UK or that Princess of Spain will do something like this, even today?

She is not a random teenager girl like you tried to describe.

She is born with responsibilities.

What she did is unforgivable due to her status.

Just like what Robb Stark did.

Personal desire goes before welfare of their people, then they are doomed to fail.

I would respect Lyanna more if she did something like Black fish.

Break with her family publicly and then follow her heart to elope with Rhaegar.

At least brandon and Rickard would not die in such a meaningless way.

Think people. This is GRRM writing the story. Where is there a reliable witness for what happened to Lyanna. We have a seies of events that people have ASSUMED were related.

1. Harrenhall tournament, Rhaegar gives Lyanna a wreath of blue flowers.  This could be love, it could be anger with Elia (I have always suspected Brandon and Elia), or it could be Aerys ordering the flowers, or it could be something to do with a secret, Stark/Rhaegar alliance to remove Aerys.

2. About 8 months later Lyanna disappears.  Where had she been for the preceding 8 months - Winterfell, Harrenhall, with her mother, helping the dishonoured Ashara Dayne have her baby, in secret trysts with Rhaegar, off over the wall with the exciting young NW recruiter (?Mance)?  We do not know.

3. We do KNOW that Brandon was at or near Riverrun getting ready to be married to Catelyn, when he was told by someone that Rhaegar had been kidnapped by Rhaegar. Told by whom?  Someone reliable or someone causing trouble. Perhaps an embittered 13 year old with an eye for trouble and strife - like Baelish. Or perhaps an enemy of Rhaegar. It may have been someone deliberately trying to break the Rhaegar/ Stark/Tully/Arryn/Baratheon alliance.  Perhaps she gave a message to someone who FAILED to pass it on eg Baelish. She may have been kidnapped by Rhaegar or Aerys. She may not have been kidnapped at all but off on some mission. We do not know.

4. Brandon goes storming off to KL yelling at Rhaegar.  People believed him because of the way Aerys reacted. but we really DO NOT KNOW. Once Areys murnered Brandon and Rickard, the war started and there was no turning back.

5. We (possibly) know that Lyanna died at the ToJ, probably in child birth. But even that is not absolutely certain. Ned may have in fact returned his MOTHER's bones. We do not know who was with her, who imprisoned her (if she was imprisoned). We KNOW that Arthur Dayne was at ToJ. Who else. Ashara Dayne? Wylla? Rhaegar? Rhaella? Elia?

Remember every narrator, (other than Old Nan) is unreliable.

GRRM can write whatever he wants for his story. But if he wants to sell his books, he needs to make the story good, consistent and also reasonable.

Honestly some of your ideas are very interesting, but IMHO highly unlikely.

Such as, Brandon and Elia. Where does this come from? So Brandon seduced Rhaegar's wife, then Rhaegar kidnapped his sister?

And who said Lyanna was kidnapped 8 months after HH? By current account, it is impossible to be 8 months. At most two three months.

And how come Rhaegar, Rhaella and Elia are in TOJ when Lyanna died?

And why the hell there is something about Ned's mother's bones? you mean Lynara, dead wife of Rickard, right?

come on, we all know Lyanna wanted to be "kidnapped" by rhaegar.

Just like dany wanted to be "kidnapped" by Dario before her wedding.

Direwolf can not make Lyanna disappearing from the world.

So rhaegar still will find her somewhere and she will still happily leave.

And her wolf, if it tried to attack rhaegar, it will still be cut into halves by Dawn.

It looks like Lyanna ran away.  The premise of the thread, however, framed the scenario so that Lyanna was kidnapped.  It's a "what-if?" type of question.  The answer should be confined to the scenario presented in the original question.

Good chance the direwolf will sense the danger.  What would Lyanna do?  She can listen to the warning and ride away.  She can ignore the warning and move forward.

Arthur Dayne + Direwolf is pretty one-sided.  Arthur will stand in front of Rhaegar and take the charge rather than let his prince fight the wolf.  Arthur dies, but may buy enough time to allow Rhaegar to kill the wolf or to run away.  One of the men die, the second gets away with Lyanna or kills the wolf.  A waste of a KG and a direwolf if you ask me.  Rhaegar wasn't that stupid.  He's not going to attack directly like that.  He'll invite Lyanna for tea in his tent, slip her a mickey, and she'll be all tied up and bundled before she wakes up.

Yes all of what I said is just ideas - possibilities because we do NOT know. GRRM has quite deliberately NOT told us.  He has left it all open. All we know is what Robert believed - ie that Lyanna was kidnapped, and what Ned recalled ie Lyanna dying saying "promise me." We know that Arthur Dayne was at ToJ and Ned killed him with the help of Howland reed. That is about it really.

We know that Ned did not hate Rhaegar, so we can probably guess that he did not blame him for kidnapping Lyanna. So we are left with an explaination such as:

Elopement - Ned would still have blamed Rhaegar, since he was older and wiser - I think it unlikely

Someone else eg Aerys kidnapped Lyanna - highly likely

Lyanna was the instigator of the whole mess - quite likely

Lyanna was of on some mission and left a message for her family that was not passed on - Highly likely.

Not saying its a perfect excuse. If they knew what the turn out would be they would have went about it a different way. They were in love and were both apart of marriages (or soon to be) that they did not want to, being forced by family and were chained. They followed their hearts and were caught up in a love struck moment of happiness, something they never thought they would have

Disagree.

If one call was missed, you can call again.

If one message did not work, she can send one more.

Either she did not want to pass message, or Rhaegar did not allow her to give message.

And I will not believe that they can not send message during that whole year although they are in TOJ.

They can manage to have food, water, supply, servant in and out of TOJ, why not some messages?

What are you talking about? Yes Lyanna was running, if she run, from the engagement her father arranged but how is Brandon involved?

RLJ Shippers like shifting blame from Lyanna to Brandon, because they can't accept that their favorite ship is actually kinda horrible.

I am not sure that they are all the same. I mean I do believe that some might be a little over the top by saying that the elopement would be ok if Brandon hadn't act and he with Aerys are those who should be blamed for the war, because a normal people would had waited for Lyanna to return dead or alive to say that she went willingly who has ever heard or instincts anyway?, but saying that Brandon is the one to blame for Lyanna's decision to disappear it's something different.
