Nas!
Couldn’t find a darts thread, so I thought I’d start one (and perhaps watch it sink to the bottom of the forum ocean before being eaten by some weird prehistoric sea creature). I started watching darts a few years back and find I can’t stop watching! My favorite players are Johnny Clayton, Michael Smith and Ryan Searle. I also throw whenever I can. I’m pretty terrible, but I have fun doing it. Anyone?
BigFatCoward
One of the greatest marketing jobs in history getting darts to be as popular as it is. Nas!
3CityApache
To throw it occasionally in a pub, yeah, why not. But watch someone else doing it? Unimaginable.
Tywin et al.
Idk, I've heard the huge darts tournament in Europe is something worth traveling to see. Sounds like most of the fun is drinking and singing some random shit.
Raja
Look, I love watching the darts bust up videos on youtube. They make me laugh a lot This is the extent to which I watch darts but I do hope you find a nice darts community, Nas Nas!
kairparavel
I have nothing to offer in this thread except: Nas! 180! Darts was Sunday morning hangover tv when I was still living with my parents in Ottawa a bajillion years ago. Nas!

Used to love watching them staggering up the hill in their fancy dress, then stumbling back down absolutely wankered. In all that time, even with all the drinking, I don't remember ever getting called to any fights or disturbances.

It just sounds like a big, happy drinking party and the darts are just happening in the background.
BigFatCoward
One of the weirdest things is how quickly some people, who were probably terrible at maths at school, can calculate check outs instantly as they miss what they were going for.
Nas!
Well, this certainly explains why there aren't any active darts threads in this forum! I have to say, one thing that I especially like about the darts is that there seems to be a good level of camaraderie among the players. It is usual to see a player offer a fist-bump to his opponent after said opponent throws exceptionally well. And usually both players are smiles and congratulations at the end of a match. It is, after all, only darts. I think that this spirit is seen in the crowds, too, as BFC pointed out. There aren't rival tribes being kept apart by stewards and sections of empty seats. The crowd will often get on players who are throwing against local or national favourites, but it never seems to go too far. No one gets beat up for wearing a Michael Van Gerwen shirt in the Dave Chisnall supporters section. It all seems fairly civilized, despite the costumes and heavy drinking. I realize that this is probably only a consequence of the sport's limited popularity, but it is still nice to watch the players and crowds behave in a sporting fashion. Also *waves*: hi Kair! kairparavel
