murphy
I got the same thing, "IPS data error" for about 1/2 hour. I went over to Westeros, but there was nothing posted about board problems.
Errant Bard
Same problem here. Say, I think you said once that long threads with over 400 posts could make the board unstable, and there this R+L=J sticky in Book General with 760+ posts.
mashiara
We've been having the same problem on and off for over 15 hours now.The rest of the time the board is excruciatingly sloooooooow.
Angalin
IPS Driver ErrorThere appears to be an error with the database. You can try to refresh the page by clicking here(the "here" is the main index page, I think)
Ran
Linda and I are on vacation right now, so our Internet presence is intermittent. Will try and find out what's going on, though. Thanks for the reports!

murphy
This is the first time I've been able to get on the board since about 6:30 this morninging. It is now 10:30. I kept getting IPS driver error. Clicking "here" didn't help at all.

Sparks
Something went horribly wrong with the Linux kernel on this server, and it was eating 90% of the machine's physical RAM. MySQL couldn't remain running reliably. The kernel's been upgraded, PHP's been tweaked, and the server rebooted. Life should now be better. Werthead
Same problem here. Say, I think you said once that long threads with over 400 posts could make the board unstable, and there this R+L=J sticky in Book General with 760+ posts.Bollocks, I missed this. Unstickied and closed. It might be my imagination but the board immediately started loading a bit faster after that. Probably coincidence.

Yagathai
Hm. Whenever I try to load up the board, I get an IPS Driver Error. It goes away when I clear cookies, but it comes back when I log back in. Any ideas?
Angalin
Yags - I haven't had that problem since Sparks did the kernel upgrade. Never tried clearing the cookies; the board just came back on its own eventually. :dunno:
Ran
It sounds like possibly a cache issue, that the browser cached an error page and is bringing it up each new session. I'd try clearing the cache.
Black Wizard
At one point is a thread deemed to be too long and then shut and a new one started? One forum I used to post on regularly had the limit as 25 pages.
Ran
Generally we go with 400 posts, except the Forum Games thread, where it's 1000 posts. I believe standard display is 20 posts per page, so 20 and 50 pages respectively.
Yagathai
Nope. Cleared cache, switched browsers, blew out cookies and temp files and everything. Same behaviour on two different computers. Obviously I'm logged in now, but that's because I loaded up this thread before I logged in, then logged-in in a different window, then switched back here and clicked "reply". When I try to go to asoiaf.westeros.org, or any thread or any section, I still get the IPS driver error.
Yagathai
In fact, after I click "Add Reply", I get taken to.. an IPS driver error. Then I have to clear cookies and blow out cache, then load up this thread to see if my reply appears.
