I know most people don't bother with daily randoms anymore, but I have a shaman I'm gearing up an ele offspec for, so I'm still doing it, and man it's a nice feeling to really mesh with your random group. We had our beartank DC as soon as we entered H Nexus. He was kicked, and while we waited for a new tank, with no discussion, I threw an Earth Shield on the fury warrior, he threw on a shield -- one from Naxxramas -- and we cleared the first two bosses and some more trash without issue before the new tank arrived, as two tanks AFKed for their invites. Finally a new tank showed up, I switched the Earth Shield, he went back to his fury weapons, and no one pulled under 4400 DPS and most were above 5k.

oh FFS! the are giving hunters Bloodlust!!!!!

You know it's coming. Blizz has been saying that they want to spread the buffs around. Amongst other blessings being give out are Prayer of Fort, increase crit, bless of kings, etc. Seems like it's one of those things that Blizz is trying to do so that if your raid really can't find a priest/pally/moonkin, you will not have to miss out on X buff.

Only Beast Mastery hunters using a core hound. That's pretty niche.

Not anymore.

The pet redesign has been done so that Hunters are a wild card class. They can have 4 pets with them at any one time, and pick from those four at any time out of combat.

And instead of giving pets gimped version of class abilities (basically every current pet ability except Sting and Furious Howl), they get real buffs, at the cost of having no damage dealing abilities.

So, essentially, if your raid is missing buffs, a Hunter will cover them. Given the emphasis on 10 mans, this could be important.

No, R'hillor - only Beast Mastery can get the exotic pets, of which Core Hound is one. So any exotic pets that give special buffs can only be brought by BM. Which right now is fine; BM is apparently both a more fun spec to play and projects as doing better on DPS.

But a hunter can only provide so many buffs if he's not BM.

According to an announcement by blizzard, all the old badges from BC up will be converted into gold.

Conversion charts are being posted tomorrow.

Interesting, as it may create an upswing in grinding old content for older emblems/badges before Cata arrives. People may actually start doing more than just the minimum bosses when running daily heroics as well.

True 'nuff. I don't think about the other specs, so I just associate Hunters with BM.

This is what I was planning on doing.

Until a beta invite came in my e-mail today. So now I'll be messing around with that on my random wow logins.

The vile spirits achievement was hard, especially on 10 man where it forced you to stack ranged in the raid.

But now it's gone from the 10 man meta and you have 30% buff anyway so yea.

Yeah I just meant the Plague one. I guess I was just expecting something harder given that our group is far from the best and we'd struggled pretty bad on some of the other steps, like All you can eat and Sindra heroic, and Full House.

My gut feeling is that it'll be a one to one conversion - but the new things will cost so damn much that grinding will be a horrible chore, especially compared to how fast you'll get them through the normal dungeons.

So for example, it'll cost like 1500 for a basic bad piece of gear instead of the 50 it costs now.

yay! they are freeing up 3 point in the enhancement tree. Primal wisdom is now baked in and Unleashed Rage is now just 2 points. I've got points to spend on anscetral swiftness now!

That eases a bit of the sting from that slap in the face of giving lust to huntards, and the other nerfs they hit us with this weeekend. :P

Exchange rates have been posted for old Emblems and Honor to new currecny units -

http://www.wow.com/2010/09/15/cataclysm-currency-exchange-rates/2#comments

I guess this is just one side of the equation, we also need to know what the cost of gear is going to be in the new currency.

Effectively, this is opening up current Emblem of Frost gear to people who have just ground a load of Emblems of Triumph. Which is fine I guess, since quest greens and dungeon drops will probably be much better than t10 in Cataclysm.

Wonder what Primal Saronites are going to cost though. I just need four more for my ICC epic axe, need to work out if it is cheaper to buy them now with gold, or wait and buy them with the new currency.

That's not too bad actually.

I'll be sad to lose my old BG emblems though. I kept one of each just so I could see them in my currency and reminisce. Since I'll be losing my old PvP title as well I figured we'd be allowed tohold onto some iconic symbol of the past :-(

I’ve had a few hundred Beta invites so far, but resisted the urge to accept any of them, and will continue to do so until Blizzard makes an effort and starts spell checking its emails.

I was convinced it was another scam until I checked out my account on Battlenet. Now I'm happily flying around new Org and roaming the Goblin starting area.

I soloed Wailing Caverns with my lvl 35 Dran Hunter yesterday. It was pretty easy so I think I'll tackle Shadowfang Keep next. I'm finding the dungeons and exploring the most fun aspects of this game. I hate the questing. Are there any zones in the 35 to 45 range with any fun quests other than go kill x ememies or go halfway across the world to deliver this or escort this weakling from spot A to spot B? This is one area where Guild Wars trumps WOW. I really miss the mission variety from that game. I hardly ever did the grindy quests and just went from mission to mission and did some quests to acquire the skills I wanted.

Also what are the rules for player killing? I was in Ogrimmar when a Death Knight waltzed up to me and sliced me up. I'm on a normal server but I thought you needed to flag somebody to request to duel. Can you only kill the Horde if you are in Alliance territory and vise versa without any warning? I also really like the no communication between Horde and Alliance. I was doing a quest with a similiar lvl Horde hunter and we couldn't understand each other but we worked together to clear our way to the quest objectives.

Kill, loot, deliver, and escort, are the basic quest types. There's another one that is like get reagent X and speak to Spirit. But those are rare.

You are automatically flagged if you enter areas held by the opposite faction. So if I take my Troll priest to Iron Forge, I'll be flagged immediately whether I do anything or not.

Yeah I wish I had read your post before I tried to test the theory on a lvl 80 tauren who had just entered Stormwind. While he was busy destroying the guards I tried to see if I could attack him. When I shot him all I could think was "Wow it works and that was really fucking stupid."

I have died 21 times now and except for a couple pet group aggroes all my deaths have come from the "Let's try this" category.

Addendum: Just beat the Shadowfang Keep and it was the most fun yet. This is getting very addicting. Maybe it's the tension if I die I have to start all over from the beginning but the dungeon setpieces are riveting. I finally learned how to control my pet so I could control aggro more efficently. Shadowfang had cool music, awesome monsters(love werewolves) and fantastic level design. I just wish I could level my way through the dungeons seeing as I'm still lvl 35. Almost died at the Pack Master. I wasn't expecting him to rush me right after I took care of his puppies. Now my gear is starting to fill out with blues. Questing gets me nothing but mediocre greens but the three dungeons(Deepmines, Wailing Caverns, and Shadowfang) I've beaten have dropped about 20 blues.
