Cersei spoke of putting one of the Kettleblacks on the Wall to lead 100 men up there including some saboteurs - and then having the LC release him with a big bribe.

name='King Doug' timestamp='1343612539' post='3449963']

But this has never been done. Cersei thinks she can so whatever she wants with no consequences. She is learning (slowly) that she cannot.

And Robb also thinks that he can get Jon released from the NW (and really, he should have known better), however, again, this never actually happens.

For all practical purposes, being a maester AND being a NW, should have been (and was!) enough to disqualify Aemon from the throne. Joining the NW is like wearing a condom, even though you know your missus is already on the pill - it is just an extra precaution.

Yes, indeed. I bet Jon wouldnt have done it - he would have snicked off some heads first.

Maesters can be quite influential even if they have no formal power and cant be king. However, like GM Pycelle, they can be used by others or have their own agendas. Aemon went to the Wall so as not to get mixed up in this sort of thing.

Do we have any information about the color of dragon's blood? Or for that matter the blood color of any living things that are not humans. For instance: giants, CotF, dragons, etc.

I believe in GRRM's world Dragons are fire personified, just as the Others are cold personified. I would assume dragons don't have blood, and if you cut into one you would feel a swell of heat and you would see the kind of fiery hot you see in the hottest coals of a large fire. The kind of heat that distorts things around it.

EDIT: well, maybe personified isn't the best word since dragons and Others aren't people, but you probably know what I mean.

Drogon bled when he was stabbed by the spear. The color turned out to be black, but that may very well vary from dragon to dragon, like the color(s) of their flames.

Are Bloodraven and Ghost the only albinos in ASoIaF?

If so, is that just a coincidence, or does it have some meaning?

Not that I have noticed from any of the text. Albinos could be weirwood incarnates or devices of the Great Other or both. Still don't know if the great other and the old north gods are in cahoots yet.

The Ghost of High Heart is probably an albino too, wasn;'t she described as pale with red eyes?

Is there any reference to warging with the previous generation(Brandon, Ned, Lyanna, and Benjen)?

None, imho. ETA I guess that's why the find of the direwolf pups is crucial to whatever one the main story lines will be at the end.

Yes she is described that way I think. Probably albinos are some instruments of the old gods. Prophets? With BR and the Ghost of HH yes, but how can be a wolf be a prophet? What is it's significance? I'm sure he has one.

In some cultures albinos are considered to be special, or sacred. Ghost is also silent, how can he be any kind of prophet? I'm sure there's some kind of significance.

And in (hot) Africa they're considered devil's children.

Of course Ghost is no prophet, I just paralleled it with the only other two albinos we know of, who could be called prophets.

We have already been told how important and special they potentially are. BR (or was it Leaf?) tells Bran that the Old Gods mark their greenseers by giving them red or green eyes.

Not in all of Africa. In South Benin they are not discriminated against at all. I saw a few.

These are not strictlly albinos as we know them as they can see fine apparently even with eyes affected. I like to think that the white/red color combo is the "code" of some significance amongst the trees, Ghost, Brynden, etc.

how did Jon Snow knew the name of Bran's direwolf? as far as i can remember, Summer got his name by the time Jon is already on the wall. but certain events in the third book shows that he knew the direwolf's name. are we to assume that he was told somehow, but just wasn't mentioned in the books? or is there are instance that he is indeed told, but i just couldn't remember?

Well I'd guess not in all Africa, of course. I was just trying to say there is such a belief and oppose it to the fact that albinos are associated with the north/cold/old gods, not to say that all africans are discriminative jerks :D

Also, it would be natural for them to prefer colder darker places with little sun because of the skin problems, so we could probably say they are naturally "of the north" (Like Darkstar is of the night, I know :D)

Well why would they not name them together, right when they got back to Winterfell. Is there any evidence showing us otherwise?

Bran didn't name his wolf until he woke up from his coma.

As for how Jon found out, I'd just assume it was mentioned in a letter at some point off page. Perhaps in the one that announced his brother was awake.
