[BOOK SPOILERS] Episode 6 Preview

Not sure why there's so much speculation about PW being this season.. it seems pretty clear it isn't going to be until early next season.. In episode 10 we're likely going to see plenty of backlash from the RW (Arya alive, Joffrey bouncing in his chair upon hearing about Robb's death (this is where Tyrion calls him monster isn't it? building plenty of tension between them) and of course the title leads one to believe that most of the episode will be centered around Dany just as they did last season after a very climactic episode 9.. Also I wouldn't be surprised if the season ends leading up to the war at the Wall similar to the battle at the Fist last season (albeit they skipped that and we already know the war at the Wall will kick off next season and be very big).. Giants/Mammoths/Wildlings approaching etc just when JS gets back to Castle Black..

Anyway I'm getting off-topic here.. I'm quite looking forward to the Roose/Jaime/Brienne dinner scene - it was a favourite of mine in the book and as we saw last Roose can be quite the scene-stealer..

Also quite looking forward to Ramsay/Theon stuff - judging by Alfie's interviews about it and talking about how fantastic Iwan is I'm hoping we get some good dialogue between the two although I doubt we'll have a reveal quite yet.

Roose & Ramsay (while most show-watchers don't know they are linked quite yet) need to be built up as exceptionally disdainful characters before Joffrey dies so people have someone to hate? (if this makes sense) as they are two the main antagonists in the North going forward along with the Frey's.

You're right, having a villain figure that audiences love to hate and talk about is very, very important, even/especially in an ensemble cast like this. Good King Joffrey was probably the most popular topic of GoT discussion for all my friends throughout the latter half of season 1 and all of season 2. What little we've seen of the Boltons is quite promising, and going by the source material alone they're more than prepared for the task.

I can't quite say why but the razing of Winterfell seemed to hit a lot of people nearly as hard as Ned's execution, and I think when Ramsay's hand in that comes to light (Probably coinciding with the revelation of his identity?) it will affect people's opinions of him greatly and ease his transition into Joffrey 2.0 before we learn about his other hobbies. Probably moreso than his torture of Theon, I'm sorry to say.

I am hoping they use the Theon and Ramsay screen time for something besides just torture. It's important to show how Theon becomes Reek, but after a certain point it simply becomes gratuitous; especially when that time can do used to advance the story or elaborate on background details too.

My predictions:

-Robb learns of the Frey marraige proposal, he convinces Edmure to agree, they head out.

-Jon's group of wildlings climb the Wall, he has an angry confrontation with Orell.

-Melisandre convinces Gendry to come to Dragonstone after facing off with Thoros.

-Jaime and Brienne dine with Lord Bolton, Brienne learns she will be given to Locke.

-Jojen reveals Osha must leave with Rickon, Osha reluctantly agrees.

-Sansa learns of her upcoming marraige, she confides in Margaery.

-Baelish leaves for the Vale, Tyrion learns Bronn is accompanying him.

I think Bran's story will be a little different in how Osha leaves, and I think Bronn will come with Baelish to the Vale. That way, once Sansa gets there, we will see a familiar face, and since Marillion is gone from the show, he can be the one who gets framed for killing Lysa.

Anybody else think that's a good idea?

Tyrion and Sansa rushed wedding. The climb. Too funny! Does Davos get a letter from the wall to read? The Hound steals Arya Stark. Littlefinger is out of the scene now. Bran learns that he is going beyond the wall. Daenarys sees a slave crucified. Obviously with it being "The Climb" it will be time for the Wildlings lead by Tormund and John Snow to navigate K2. Looking forward to that.

I want this decision to come from Osha herself.

If not, people will really distrust the Reeds... and they already do...

Bran isn't going beyond the wall for a long time. Jon still has to get back to the wall and have the run-in with Summer. And coldhands isn't until episode eight.

"King’s Landing hosts a wedding, and Tyrion and Sansa spend the night together. Dany meets the Titan’s Bastard. Davos demands proof from Melisandre. Sam and Gilly meet an older gentleman. "

We have hints that the Slayer is episode 7...

So Melissandre is back at Dragonstone for episode 8... which leaves her two episodes with the BwB. But we dont know what will they talk about. IIRC correctly, now that they've deleted the Edric plot, the main thing that remains to happen at Dragonstone is Davos reading the letter... maybe this "proof" thing is the dialogue between them two in the dungeons. But I had hoped Stannis to release him before this episode...

Maybe Davos will discover the letter in episode 9, be released shortly afterwards and read it to Stannis in episode 10 (I'm quite sure this arc will end with the letter, logical choice).

As for Coldhands... so, we have Queenscrown and Slayer in episode 7 (gonna be a hell of an episode, with the bear also there). So, Coldhands episode 8 (while Bran and co still head up North) and finally, Nightfort meeting in episode 9 or 10 (this will end the season as well) as Jon arrives back at the Wall on his arc.

If Littlefinger is going to the Vale to seduce Lysa, I highly doubt bringing the man who was responsible for freeing Tyrion with him is part of the plan.

It's an implausible idea for a number of reasons (Bronn, as depicted on the show, is an unlikely fit to try and rape Sansa, and an even unlikelier fit for quietly accepting being framed for murder).

Theon will get castrated,

A couple of things for my first post ever -

- I think it is way too early for Theon to get castrated - he needs to be tortured much much more

- Is it canon that he gets castrated? I was under the impression that he lost the twig but kept the berries

There is some discussion in this thread about how Theon will be shown at his lowest, finally submitting to Ramsay and becoming Reek . . . personally, although it was not a part of the books, I expect Ramsay to start raping him at some point - I feel that was foreshadowed in the rape Ramsay saved Theon from

Bronn's not a good guy, but I can't see him acting like Marillion with Sansa. Plus that would mean no more Jerome Flynn noooo

I'm definitely curious about what they're going to do with the Osha and Rickon thing. Does anyone else think we'll get scenes of those two when they split up, unlike the books? It would add yet another story to an already bloated show but I can't see them leave it hanging after GRRM and the showrunners have expressed so much love for Tena.

I hope not. There's a certain point where it just becomes gratuitous and literal Torture Porn to no real gain. After the gruesome scene with Jaime's stump in episode 5, though, I think we might actually see some flaying or similar on-screen. Eugghh. It's a little early for Theon to "learn his name", though.

I don't know if it's been discussed, but my Comcast guide's preview description/summary for this episode says Melisandre visits the Riverlands. Any thoughts what this means?

Melisandre's going to the BWB cave to get Gendry. 'King's Blood,' you know...

I feel like I am probably the only person who said, "Yay! Black Walder and Lame Lothar" out loud. I have this very weird fascination with the Freys. I love how there are so many of them but they are all bad and icky in their own unique way (or at least a lot of them).

You weren't the only one who got excited, I always loved Lame Lothar Frey.

Probably to seek out Gendry.

Also, in about 11 or 12 days we'll be having the "Rains of Castamere" description on our Comcast guides. I was able to read "The Bear and the Maiden Fair"'s episode description 2 days ago.

I wonder what the description of THAT episode will be.

"Houses Tully and Frey form an alliance" or something like that.
