Oh, sweet Jesus. The shitstorm that's going to rise from the crossbow bolt to Ros' groin is going to be MASSIVE. The show has already been accused of misogyny, but if they depict Ros' death in a way similar to Joff's scene with the whores, this will be the most they've been criticized yet. But on the bright side, at least Joffrey is back to his evil form again. Although that does undermine Ramsay, if his torture of Theon will be in the same episode.

OMG I didn't even notice that until I read your post. I had to go back and look. OMG!! I'm flabbergasted.

ETA:

I don't think I could accuse the show of misogyny over this, I can accuse it of utilizing cheap torture porn for shock and chatter effect.

Wow... Um... Just wow!

looks like AS has done it again. The shots of Sansa/Loras and the Wall are just stunning.

I really don't know what to think about the shot of Ros. I think I'm actually quite disappointed.

But why would it create a huge shitstorm? I mean, Joffrey's already killed Ned, had whores beaten, stripped Sansa in open court, and advocated the extermination of all homosexuals. It would be a misogynistic move by the character, but how would the show be misogynistic, as opposed to merely portraying a misogynistic maniac?

That site looks Russian so I don't think the show has any control over those leaks. Someone over there is getting the episodes a day early and leaking the episode. Probably can't do anything about that happening from here on out. I'm not very good at keeping my nose out of spoilers but I don't think I want to get this kind of info every week so I'm going to try and avoid them from here on out.

In terms of the big development:

I had been struggling to come up with Ros' role once LF left King's Landing. She's been linked to him since arriving in the capital and her new duties in spying for Varys on LF weren't going to be that effective if LF left (and especially if she wasn't coming along). I thought for a while that she would fulfill the Dontos role but D&D said just recently that he would actually be returning so I guess that was never in the cards. Once she was enlisted by Varys to spy on LF, I knew there was going to be no other end for her other than death because they wouldn't make LF look like an idiot who was having someone he trusted spying on him. So her getting sniffed out and dealt with was inevitable, I just didn't think it would be this soon. Giving her to Joffrey wasn't something I considered but it accomplishes dual purposes in writing her out now that she has no further role to play in LF's story and it reminds us again that Joff is a sadistic prick after sidelining him for most of this season so far. Unlike some, I really liked her as a character but I guess there was only going to be so much you could do with a completely invented entity unless you were going to substitute her into another book role in the future.

I think it will be a really nasty scene. She has quarrels in her arm, one near her head, one to the chest, one near the groin and it looks like there are a couple to the legs too. People are going to be disturbed.

I wonder if Mel is giving Arya the "evil child, wolf child" speech that the GOHH gives. But more importantly for future reference she won't have any excuse to not recognize the "grey girl on the dying horse" in ADWD.

It could be to set up how her interpretations are not always accurate.

Because people are idiotic and incapable of separating views depicted vs views held. Why do you think it's so common for networks to say stuff like "the views of this show do not necessarily express the opinions of this network or its employees?"

As soon as I saw that picture, I thought of some podcasters that will be very very happy.

Joffrey never killed anyone in the books, I believe. However, in the books he also didn't have any lowborn people nearby. He did have many sentenced to death though. He never did care at all about the common man. So I think it's a change that fits. Plus it's possible they may have thought they were humanizing him too much by showing that he is still a teenage boy and very easy to manipulate through his penis. Needed to remind us he's a monster and make that undeniable, perhaps?

@ Bobbybuilderton

re: your last spoiler. Yeah I think so too because

in the books Joffrey is still Public Enemy No1 at this point because we don't yet know about Ramsay. Given the show is depicting the Ramsay story already, a timely reminder that Joffrey is a monster and isn't being quietened by the Tyrell charm at all is probably justified.

I think he kills some protesters and has antlers nailed to their heads.

Anyway I think the reason LF probably sets Ros up after he finds out she's a spy working for varys.

First time the show truly surprised me with something.

God, no wonder the kid apparently wants to quit acting. Doing a scene like this could give him nightmares for life. I really hope we don't see or hear anything happen, and just see the "afterwards": as with many others, I wasn't a huge fan of Ros, but I think this scene will make me retroactively feel bad about anything negative I ever said.

I wonder if Joff will somehow try to involve Margarey?

And for those who don't want to be spoiled (and I recommend you remain unsullied): move along. Nothing to see here.

In less shocking development screencap analysis:

There's one pic of Sansa (sort of) disrobing and looking back in the doorway where Tyrion is standing. There's another girl standing with Tyrion talking to Sansa and I'm trying to figure out if this is Charlotte Hope, because she looks an awful lot like her. She's the actress playing the girl getting stripped down (with an uneasy or upset look on her face) by another unidentified woman in one of the trailers that a lot of people were speculating about. It's still unclear what her role actually is on the show but it's undoubtedly fairly minor.

If this girl is Charlotte Hope, then I would peg her as another one of Sansa's handmaidens. I'll go ahead and speculate that perhaps she's brought in by Tyrion to replace Shae since that arrangement doesn't seem very fair to anyone now that he's marrying Sansa. I'm sure it will be clearer once the episode airs.

Wow. Why so many spoiler tags around here? What am I missing? Are there some uproar pics like last week?

You have no idea.

Spoiler
I didn't really think that Ros could be Dontos'd. If she disappeared at the same time that Sansa did, just after the PW, people in KL (Varys, Tyrion... etc) would have put two and two together since Ros is too linked to LF. But neither did I expect her to go away this soon (even though it makes sense) I never started to dislike her until the end of the last season when she decided to spy on LF (I guess that was when she signed her death sentence)

He gave the command but he did not do it himself, I think.

In a way, it's a fitting death for Ros. You know all those hopes and dreams you had? Forget them. It's a like a gruesome Fantine-like ending.

Yeah, you're right. This one could have been a "good" surprise in the show. I wasn't really expecting it.

That image with LF, right after the gruesome sight, is sufficient evidence for me to believe that this was indeed orchestrated by LF.

I almost feel like there should be a show spoiler thread as there is no way this thread is going to make it without someone saying what happens. Also if I were the show I would be going after the leakers hard.

Really hope this doesn't continue over the next weeks, especially not for ep9.
