Relic
Please use spoiler tags when discussing plot or actual gameplay after the second hour or so. Does that sound fair? If you have a better thread name, im all ears. So im about...3 hours into this game? Playing it on hard and getting my ass kicked by sword spiders. Great fun! I will probably reroll my rogue real soon, not the greatest choice of pc, to be honest. What stats should i be looking to pump into my Cipher? Gus
Patching the game right now and I think I will make a rogue. From experience I know I'm going to micromanage it a lot for scouting and trap finding so I might as well make the main character. Will make sure I got the other classes I like in the group. Jasta11
seriously? Yeah, it seriously sucks. I'd rather play an inspired, original, quality game like Watch_Dogstm than this pile of crap. I'M JOKING. This game is awesome. Get it. Buy it. Love it. Cherish it 'till the end of your days.
RumHam
Has anyone else recruited an adventurer at the inn yet? You go through the whole character creation process again for them. I feel like maybe I should have just waited to find more party members, but it does help to have a fifth this early in the game.
Matrim Fox Cauthon
I made a mountain dwarf paladin (Goldpact) merchant. I raised his Might fairly high, as well as his Resolve, Intellect, and Perception - because it's Obsidian - but then lowered his Constitution and Dexterity to about the minimum. I plan on also raising his deflection and defensive options - having the party focused on offense - so we'll see how this build turns out. I'm only about an hour and a half into the story. Gus
well rogues in this game are a dps class. as far as i can tell anyone with the right stats and skills can scout and disable trapsThanks. I like the cliche rogue so I'll stick with that for now but it is a good idea if I make another class. Let's say I make a tank do I have to sacrifice my tank skills to be better at finding traps? Jasta11
Thanks. I like the cliche rogue so I'll stick with that for now but it is a good idea if I make another class. Let's say I make a tank do I have to sacrifice my tank skills to be better at finding traps? Not really. Finding and disarming traps is almost entirely dependant on the Mechanics skill which you can put point in as a Paladin (Rogues get a starting bonus, but not a big one). You can easily have a Paladin focusing on stealth and traps if you want, albeit I'd put a few points in Athletics because otherwise your character tires very fast and fatigue gives you big stat penalties. Relic
Does being in stealth mode raise fatigue?
Gus
Thanks good to know. Feels good to be a little clueless and discovering things.
Maia
Does a scout accrue fatigue due to sneaking all around the place? I have a mad notion of making a wizard with Stealth and Mechanics, for an "arcane trickster" experience. Does anybody know what defense one needs against traps in case of critical failure? Also, is it possible for a back-row character to stealth during battle? After breaking LOS, maybe? And what about Resolve for casters? Concentration sounds pretty useful and Deflection is always welcome. Of course, better action speed from Dex sounds very appealing too. What weapons would be best? Wand/rod/sceptre or something else? I always play elvish magic-users when given a chance, and I suspect that I'll like snobby Intellect-based dialog options... Jon AS
Well, I've created a handful of characters (Paladin, Ranger archer, Chanter, melee Cipher, ranged Cipher) and gone through the opening area with them, but I still can't decide which of these I like best. The only one I've discarded for good is the melee Cipher, that was just a painful experience, whereas the Ranger seemed easiest, probably because of the bear companion. It's probably going to take me all weekend just to come to a decision about this... Independent George
*sigh* Another day, another build. I decided my priest should actually be a priestess of Eothas instead of... I can't remember which god I'd previously followed, but the story is a lot more interesting this way. Ok, this time, I'm playing for real.
Werthead
Did the quest for the pregnant woman (go down to the swamp and talk to the healer) and didn't even think to create some new companions. Now getting twatted by the mobile mushroom men because I only have my main and the elven mage from the Vale. Going to have to go back and hire some bods, I'm getting splattered otherwise. Also, the game is quite preposterously generous with loot and cash. I'm amassing a fortune very quickly and I'm only 3 hours into the game. Quite a shock after Wasteland 2's near-sociopathic rationing of loot and cash throughout its entire length. PoE's attitude is more, "Feck it, go wild." Anybody who goes out of their way to make a dwarf right away is my kind of person. I made a mountain dwarf fighter, although I feel like I am kind of regretting that choice since One of the earlier companions to join the party for good is also a fighter. Not getting much diversity there. Everybody who has been hype for this game on the forum should get a piece of the commission because I bought this game primarily due to the collective Westeros excitement. Beats the hell out of Skyrim or whatever where I've constantly got to decide what loot to keep and what loot to just leave in the dungeon. I am only playing on normal and I also was getting my ass heavily beaten early on. Well, I'm still getting it beaten, just a little less, and usually only when I'm stupid. Though I'm currently stumped by Trying to find this contact Nedmar (?) in Raedric's Keep. Instead I've just been slaughtering the entire collection of priests and paladins. Maybe they deserve it. Sorry to double post, Wert's comment popped up as I was writing the previous.
