  1. I sorta think Tottenham will lose this one.
  2. Agree that it wouldn't be overturned if given either. And it seems the scoreboard is now slightly better.
  3. As to this .. VAR didn't change it when McNeill got stamped on his standing leg. This was a tap, and Gakpo seemed to overdo it rather badly. Could probably easily not fall down there.
  4. Tottenham are weird. Most of the time, they look like they'll be steamrolled here, but then suddenly they break in numbers and with speed, and you get the feeling they might just nick a goal or two.
  5. I mean .. if the PL doesn't automatically accept you, you're most likely dodgy as Trump.
  6. I think Arsenal are lucky here. Raya's doing a bad job in that situation and is getting bailed out by the "goalkeepers are sacred"-rule. ETA: that was about the disallowed goal. Game as a whole, Arsenal are clearly best. Superior in the first half, more even in the second.
  7. Youngest MP in Norway was 20 at the time (three years ago). Most often there are a few in their 20s each election. Pros for the young are that they're often idealistic, focused on solutions and impatient. Generally, those seeking office are also smart and hard working. Cons for me is that they've generally been in some sort of governing bodies (student councils, local councils, youth organizations etc) for a long time, and are very well known with how governing works now - socialized into it, as it happens - and thus less likely to see problems with the current way of organization of the government itself. Also, as they grow into government, they tend to display a lack of knowledge about working life. Those I teach leave us a 16, but I can easily imagine those *with an interest* doing as well or better than those they will replace. As mormont says, those who aren't really a good fit for government also tend not to seek it, as they don't have an interest. For me, I don't mind having young people in government. Having most walks of life represented is a plus, I believe. (As for the UK, I believe that running for office is expensive whether you win or lose, and that this limits your choice of candidates? Shame if so, as it will mean less representation from those not really half rich).
  8. To the first - you sell now. He'll be free in a year, then you'll have to replace him without getting anything back. If someone wants him badly enough, that's a good deal in most circumstances. The second part - quite possibly, but this year keeps telling us things can always get worse.
  9. Seems like a heads you win, tails I lose situation for Everton right now. No doubt Moshiri has been bad news all round. Good thing if we don't go from bad to 777, but the interim there could potentially kill us off.
  10. So ... Administration is a possibility this season. Figures.
  11. As for the Everton game .. we're mostly solid again. This kind of defending is what I thought Benitez would be able to implement (Lampard not so much), but after having been so porous for years, having a tight team at the back is comfortable. If I'm to be positive (I am), I think that building from the back is the way to go for us. Defensive solidity coupled with set piece goals, and then try to improve the offense from there. The Moyes Way, if you will - his early teams was very much like this, while his final Everton team was actually a nice team to watch. If Dyche is capable of that remains to be seen, but he's got the first part down. Other positives from yesterday .. we scored. Chermiti looked very much at sea at the start of the game, but he grew into it, won some battles, had a few nice touches and looks like he'll be a useful player. Hope so. Bring on next season.
  12. Bryne FK keep a decent start going. We've won three, lost two, and of those two I'm slightly irritated about one. Today we beat the leaders Sogndal 1-0. Solid game, didn't really give them any openings, a well-managed match. Team looks about as good as can be expected.
  13. I'm not going to join in - we're on the south coast, and like England, it's the wind that's a killer here. Never too cold, but the wind can be biting. My sister'll be marrying a bloke from Senja later this year. They'll be living in Oslo, thankyouverymuch.
  14. Well, being smart and being wise are different concepts, as we all know. The Supreme Court hosts quite a few smart people, but - seemingly - five are sorely lacking in wisdom. So how to set up a society where such unwise people can be weeded out is a question worth pondering.
  15. And yet it's not the way they go now. But I'm not sure the 'boot room' model is replicable. More a one-off, I suspect.
