Been listening to lots of James Brown recently, work has been playing some kind of compilation album (I think) of his and I never realised how much I loved James Brown! I mean...it's not as though I thought ''I dislike James Brown's music'' but I certainly didn't think ''I really like James Brown's music'' either but theres one song I have stuck in my head, except it's not the whole song, just a bit of it and I can't for the life of me remember the title and I went and listened to loads of his songs and it wasn't any of them and I can't remember what the damn album was in work but it had really great dramatic, sexy sax in it...hmm...

It wasn't James Brown - we were playing an Otis Redding album too (Otis Blue - fucking great album) and the song was Ole Man Trouble and a couple of other great songs are his Satisfaction cover and Rock Me Baby
I knew I liked Otis Redding! We must have had the albums on the wall the wrong way because it said the song was on the James Brown album...

this fucking song tho...DAMN its a good song...

Hah, I was going to ask if you we're sure it was James Brown, I was thinking it might have been Maceo Parker (Brown's long time saxophonist) something like Soul of a Black Man featuring James Brown. (Sexy dramatic sax kicks in about the 7 minute mark)

But Otis is great too!

I thought I was going mad, I couldn't find the song anywhere! Because in work the CDs play on random, so a james Brown song had played before and after and when I checked it said it was the James Brown CD so obviously the Cds were not in the right place...but this Otis Blue album fucking rocks

Found a large collection of classical music spread over 3 albums, which I'm listening to now. A little surprised by how many of them I immediately recognised, even when I didn't recognise the composer.

So far favourites have been:

- Grieg: Peer Gynt, Op. 23 - Act 4: Morning

- Dvorak: Symphony #9 In E Minor, Op. 98, B 178, ''From The New World.'' - 2. Largo. (I'm pretty sure this is used at some point in Lord of the Rings in some form.)

- Bizet: Carmen Suite #2 - Chanson De Toreador

Now: Sam and Dave - Southern Soul.

Pure awesomeness!

And you're right about Dvorak.

Once again: Van Beethoven - Ode to Joy

It plays in the background or on the radio in the Bluesmobile in the Blues Brothers.   Have you seen the movie?  If you like Sam and Dave, you'll probably enjoy it.

So now that a whole thread is gone, I want to thank all the people who posted in it for the wonderful music.
Some stuff I listened to because of the last thread -

Ryan Adams - Cold Roses (for Lyanna)

Steve Earle - Pancho & Lefty (for Elder Sister and also coming damn close to Townes Van Zandt)

Nico - Das Lied vom einsamen Mädchen (a song for Cersei?)

Kadavar - Reich der Träume (The Three-Eyed Crow / Great Other?)

Neko Case - Tiny Desk Concert (for Halloween)

Neko Case - Knock Loud ('coz I like it)

New Pornographers - Challengers ('coz Neko)

Now we have reason to celebrate - Happy Seventieth, Neil Young!

Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth (Just so you can place it)

Buffalo Springfield - Mr. Soul (to show you the young Young)

Neil Young - Old Man (I consider this one of the best songs in all time)

Neil Young - Changes (Older but still Young. Song by Phil Ochs)

What I've been listening to?

Chuck Prophet - Summertime Thing

Chuck Prophet - Shake Some Action

Chuck Prophet - You Did

Chuck Prophet - A Woman's Voice
