The beet part of this tory being blackmailed for other politicians numbers, is that 2 of the people who were contacted and sent nudes, sent nudes back.
Lot of speculation that Gullis is one of them, based on Richard Tice (Reform party leader) telling him on social media to stfu or he’d reveal embarrassing info on him.
A joke circulating on Twitter is that every MP shoukd disclose what dating app they’re on (Tinder, Grindr etc) as contacting them on it seems to be the only way to get a response.

Yes and you failed it. Thats the problem.
Except it’s worse than that, you have to expect the Scottish parliament and a bunch of untrained police officers to be the arbiters of ‘reasonable’.
It’s thr procurator fiscal service who will decide, ultimately, as they make the decision on whether to prosecute a case.
That’s the way it is currently, with crimes such as Criminal Justice and Licencing (Scotland) Act 2010 S38 which largely replaced the old common law Breach of the Peace. It also refers to ‘a reasonable person’ in respect of fear, alarm, annoyance. Thr old breach of the peace needed fear or alarm, and I think there was also a public element needed. -

Lesson of the day: My English seems to be far less okay than I thought it was.
I finally managed to get to a Meetup after almost 4 months of being on the damn platform and this time even was shoved into a group to play with. Eventually the group dissolved and everyone went home and since everyone else was in the middle of a game, I went and watch a game of Werewolf. The thing is, my table apparently was the only one purely German, whereas the other tables were all in English because of the varied backgrounds. The Werewolf game was directed by this very fast-speaking British dude who apparently organized this every week for countless months on end. So you can imagine he was trying to play the game at a very brisk pace... and I must admit, as a spectator, I couldn't understand a single thing. He was speaking far too fast for me to follow. I already know that my pronunciation and speaking speed is considerably more shaky because of my lack of practice than my writing would suggest, but I was taken aback that I also have so much difficulty in in-person listening to someone who I imagine was an auctioneer in a previous life. Dang it... But much more surprising was how many of the players actually seemed to be able to follow him (not all, mind you, some also looked fairly lost and miserable).
Ey up, lad! Soyer ina dungeon, yer? Dark as yer head oop a miner’s arse, yer? Whocha roll?

Tav and I are both in for the con. Tuesday and Wednesday before we ll be bouncing around the Inverness area for Scotch tastings. Staying there both nights and training back for Thursday is the plan.
Reserved my own hotel for Glasgow. Willing to look at an airbnb or such as long as I have my own room.
If anyone wants to join us for Scotch tastings pre con just let me know.
Looking forward!
Regarding good whisky pubs in Glasgow, I’d recommend The Pot Still (Glasgow City Centre) and The Ben Nevis (Finnieston, near West End). Both will be busy during weekends

Counterpoint: If 1989 Road House sucks ass, 1989 Batman does too.
Yeah. People remember it as being dark, as for most, their prior Batman experience was the TV show.
Wat ch ing it now expecting a dark film, only to see the Joker and his (matching outfit) goons prancing around a museum while Prince blasts out of a ghetto blaster one of them is carrying.
Also weird how old Bruce is. It’s been 30 years since his parents’ murder (which has been forgotten by the city pretty much), so he must be in his late 30’s at the youngest.

It's fine to blame the Tories for stuff, but leaving out the clear context doesn't seem especially fair.
Really? EDF customers in the UK saw a massive price hike - EDI customers in France had it capped.
British Gas making massive, increasing profits while charging customers more for energy. We generate energy but get little benefit because its sold on thr market which we then have to buy back.
Which party privatised energy, and also which party did very little when the prices shot up?

Unsurprisingly, considering the depths of my ignorance concerning the military campaigns of WWII, I'd never known this. On the other hand, the information about the Ghost Army remained classified until 1996, so maybe not so surprising.

Why is the other/new UK politics thread locked when this one has reached 20 pages @mormont? i thought 20 pages was the limit.
Kate Middleton did it!
Also, I think it’s 21 pages

Eh, Backdraft was pretty well-regarded at the time, as I recall. I certainly had no problem with him in it, his faults didn't really seem to matter much given the form of the thriller and the cast around him. But YMMV.
Baldwin is also in the more recent straight to DVD sequel.

I dunno, Denis turned one half of Dune, which was mostly people talking and thinking in caves, into a 2 and a half hour movie that was very, very good and very not boring so I think there's enough meat on the Messiah's bone to make a full movie. Much like Dune Part Two, it probably won't be entirely faithful to the source material, but as Dune Part Two largely, IMO, benefited from the changes, I could certainly see movie of Messiah being quite engrossing.
The Sci-fi TV version 20 years ago was pretty good, better than their Dune adaptation (which was faithful). They made Messiah part 1 of the 3 part Children of Dune.

Dr Who fans spitting the dummy out because thr new series will drop on streaming on midnight, about 19 hours before it’s broadcast on live BBC…

There has to be a reason why we haven’t had Kate talk straight to camera ‘yeah don’t worry, it’s all cool, I’m fine, these rumours are nuts’
It would be so easy to do, that not doing it seems utterly suspect.
Yeah. At the moment, people are half-expecting them to pull a Weekend at Bernies.
We have an heir who people are speculating(wildly) killed a man and may have killed/seriously injured his wife … and it’s not looking totally far-fetched.
Wlso speculation thst Rose Hanbury is being soft-launched due to that Independent profile - though I suspect that was maybe thr paper trolling William.

Total speculation, but if for instance Williams childhood had in fact totally messed him up and he was actually a wreck of a human being, who cheated on his wife ( like his dad did), and was mentally scarred by his mums breakdown and subsequent death… then what hope would George have, if he’s growing up in an environment that is just as bad.
Right now I don’t believe any of it, but if it was true, yeah, it could be really bad for the Royals.
Yeah, probably isn’t true. But the speculation is growing, and becoming more mainstream.
David Icke must be champing at the bit to bring back his “royal family alien lizard people” theory. At the moment, the RF PR team is so shit, they’d announce something that made it seem likely
-
I think the RF is fucked. William was supposed to be the fsce of a modern RF, some saying (before the queen died) that Charles shoukd have declined it in William’s favour.
The queen was respected by most people, even a lot not in fsvour of a monarchy. The whoke recent furore has turned William into a joke. Conspiracy theories are entering the mainstream, and the RF are doing nothing to quosh them.
If George becomes king, it will be a much smaller working RF imho. If.

According to Spanish media, Kate Middleton’s operation wasn’t planned, she was in a coma, intubated, and it was feared she would die.
link is in Spanish, can’t speak to the reliability of the outlet. There’s a UK media blackout regarding it apparently

Kate’s probably dodging Andrew, who wants help inserting himself into a photo of the Woking Pizza Express

By ‘coincidence’, the Independent have published a profile on Rose Hanbury, William’s alleged mistress.

It probably is just a case of several photos being taken and merged into thr ‘best’, but when you’re trying to kill runours of a cover-up, releasing an edited photo is pouring petrol, not water, on the flames.
Read on Twitter that apparently there will be a live appearance latrr, with cameras invited to film. So expect plenty of Weekend at Bernies memes.
edit: Kare’s now claiming she was the one who edited.

A colossal fuck-up by the royal family.
RF: lots of speculation over Kate’s continued absence … that she’s had a breakdown, that William wants a divorce … let’s release a photo of her!
*releases clearly manipulated photo that if nothing else, shows her not wearing her wedding ring. News outlets pull the photo*

I could be wrong but I think the board might have had some, "wow, George is taking a long time with these books, huh?" discussions before. Possibly thousands of times since around 2002.
Also worth noting that while it looked like he wrote the first three books really quickly, he was already writing A Storm of Swords when A Game of Thrones was published.
