  1. Well it's pencilled in on the books for December 2025 but everyone is expecting that to slip. There are a number of questions: is SpaceX's Starship ready for that then, will Orion, will SLS? Will the spacesuits be ready?
  2. Flyby. The first landing is the one after this.
  3. The Artemis 2 crew: Mission Specialist: Canadian / Mission Specialist: Mission Pilot: Mission Commander:
  4. Live stream of the Artemis 2 astronaut selection announcements:
  5. Starship liftoff could be just days away https://arstechnica.com/science/2023/04/spacex-moves-starship-to-launch-site-and-liftoff-could-be-just-days-away/ Quote from a comment on the article: Not sure if this schedule is insider knowledge or not. NASA is reserving a high altitude aircraft to observe the flight April 10-11. But FAA still needs to issue a launch license to SpaceX. In Artemis Program news, expect NASA to announce on Monday the first woman selected for the initial lunar flyby, in lead up to the first woman landing on the Moon in a subsequent mission. https://news.yahoo.com/meet-astronauts-vying-first-woman-143359824.html
  6. The rest of Wu's comment should be read on the bird site to get it in full. Oligarchy's Nepo babies ruining things everywhere.
  7. That kind of escalated quickly. I'm not sure I'm going to stick with this show. Everyone is kind of a cypher for what motivates them. I think this is the same problem with Rings of Power. The writers have plot beats they want to get to and rationalize from behaviour rather than motivation. There is no theory of mind. And this show fills in the gaps with supernatural shit, drug altered states of consciousness and or sleepwalking.
  8. I wonder if Clarion has evolved past it's Milford style yet? https://www.tor.com/2022/08/17/the-ghost-of-workshops-past-how-communism-conservatism-and-the-cold-war-still-mold-our-paths-into-sff-writing/ By the way @Starkess off topic but have you ever tried applying for the International Space University? Seems that would be up your alley. I was accepted for the 2004 summer program (southern hemisphere winter) during i time I couldn't accept it, because I was doing Mars analog research in Australia, and they only offered me a half-scholarship for the Adelaide session, and notified me way too late to change plans. Never bothered applying after that. Seems to me the only reasons to do ISU (and Clarion, for that matter) is for the social connections that could help with career. (Though the Masters programs offers work placements at least.)
  9. Starfleet Academy series announced. https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/star-trek-starfleet-academy-series-paramount-plus-1235568891/
  10. @IlyaP New York Times is saying his removal happened...this year? (Or did you mean something else happened during Dr. Strange?) Here's from the Polygon article: Permutter since 2019 was left managing the toys in a small division, going from a budget of billions to about $40 million according to one video i saw. The current thing is just axing that last bit as a redundant division.
  11. Trailer for the first movie filmed in space. No, it was the Russians, not Tom Cruise! Boooooo
  12. Hmmm.... Last week: Today: JMS having business meetings... So an near as I can figure, on March 3rd or 4th JMS mentioned on his Patreon page that he had a call with WB who said they're going ahead with the new B5, though CW had officially passed on the opportunity. https://twitter.com/Grey17Podcast/status/1632006666479648771?s=20 The six weeks quote indicates May 1st as a possible pre-production start date, if whatever he's talking about is a tv series. And this guys says the rumours are for Apple+: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTgOGzx9Wvc
  13. Coogler gets spooky https://twitter.com/tordotcom/status/1640773007118401536?s=20
  14. I thought about posting this in the Mental Health thread because it is breaking me. A lot of unpack here...
  15. Yeah, I know, no one else here is watching this.... Final season.
  16. Hasn't there been a ton of interest in Hollywood for adaptations of his work? He's been edging closer to an adaptation deal for years. There are many reasons for those to collapse, as most here know. He's written a Mistborn script, so clearly he want to be involved and that's unacceptable to some producers/directors. We all know of shitty adaptations, and he plainly is less interested in a cash payout than seeing something faithfully adapted. And he's spoken of the process here: https://www.17thshard.com/news/brandon-news/adaptation-news-likely-in-the-coming-months-r866/ Google finds that pretty easily. The Wired article author didn't do much research clearly. Here's the video that info was taken from, cued up to the point at which he disscuss it specifically:
