I hope to doesn't turn into some teen angsty romance. Or for him to be some kind of mini Oberyn. Plus that weird Disney dress Myrcella is in doesn't fill me with confidence, it akes me laugh wen I see it. I hope this doesn't turn into some true love thwarted thing.

I might be alone but I actually quite liked the innocence of their book relationship and the fact that they were just sweet kids. I know it doesn't get covered much but sometimes it's nice to get a break from all the game playing and manipulating and violence its nice to see young people just get to b young for a few lines before we g back to the usual merry go round of the usual fare.

ITA, that is what I liked about both of them. Inspite of everything each must have grown up hearing........they were just kids who seemed to really get along and enjoy each other's company.

In an s5 section there could be all manner of new threads. Even, or perhaps especially to y'all, pre-emptive show-hate circlejerks.

I'm fully for this.

I can't stand the idea of watching some bull about Trystane channeling Romeo. That sure isn't spoiling me on the books. If I'm to be spoiled, I'd like to get some of the real story.

Ugh, I hate being late to the party, but what do you make of the Rattleshirt recast?

Is it a yay or nay for the glamour switcheroo?

I'm gonna go on a limb and say that Mance really gets burned, and then Mel simply sends Rattleshirt to Winterfell

Rattleshirt will be one of the wildling chiefs at Hardhome in ep. 508. The switcheroo is cut completely.

He's only going to appear in episodes 7 and 8, apparently, so I don't think so, unless the purpose of the switcheroo is to send Mance to Hardhome instead of Winterfell. I think it's unlikely.

However, like I said before, I don't think Mance is truly dying in the first episode, despite how convincing the execution looked like. I think they will later reveal he's alive, but without a glamour switcheroo, so that they can still use Ciaran Hinds.

What Mance says to Jon before getting burned is very in character. I think he gets killed for real.

It does mostly seem that way, and that makes me wonder what is even the point of recasting a Rattleshirt? I suppose that the bones can be used to give show watchers a Wilding of some recognition for some of the story, but.......without certain elements I'm not sure why it even matters who is the Wilding leader/s at Hardhome.

With a Mance's son, I do wonder where that will leave Sam and Gilly and baby makes three as well?

Oh silly me........all that matters is who's nekked and when and of course......how often in Dorne, with.......how many others, LOL

ETA: In other words, I'm off to see if I can find some more news and or fun or photos somewhere. :P

I think it's just to have a familiar face (or mask) among the chiefs at Hardhome. All the others will be new characters, so it makes sense to bring back a certain recognizable skull, even if he doesn't have long for this world there.

I know I've said this before, but it's still a bit strange that with the casting info, we have only heard news about Hardhome in 508 and not any other storylines, but I don't think the entire episode will be focused on one storyline like Blackwater and Watchers on the Wall were. It wouldn't make much sense since there are two main characters there.

Yeah, I just read that he'll be at Hardhome. I'm so behind on the news :(

There was an idea thrown around a few months ago that Mance would live and turn up at Castle Black in Rattleshirt's armor, without him ever being there - a spare set of bones or something.

The reveal to the Wildlings that Mance is still alive would take place at Hardhome when the Castle Black Wildlings see Rattleshirt and go "Rattleshirt? WTF's He doing here?"

-----

Alas, it sounds like nothing more than wishful thinking at this point, but we heard Jon would have a stunt double appearing in 5.03? 5.04? something like that, which indicates some kind of action sequence - maybe one to get his ass kicked.
