Also [weekly post about how excited I am that Kevan and Lancel are back]

:D

I rewatched ep. 205 yesterday and he says something like "in the name of the Seven, by all that is holy and right, I Lancel Lannister...", which really is good setup for his becoming a zealot.

Yeah we're definitely going to see Tyrion and Jorah's adventures from 504 - 507, but I'm not sure how their first meeting will go down. I think you specifically saw in one of the photos that Tyrion's hands were tied to the boat that him and Jorah were in. So I guess after Tyrion has his scene with the prostitute, he'll maybe try to leave the brothel to get back to Varys and then be captured by Jorah. I don't think the WTF ending of 503 has anything really to do with Tyrion's storyline.

I still think it'll be the ending of ep. 503 when Tyrion's abducted.

Also re that article, Jon is out of the loop in the book about faux!mance until much later isn't he? And I don't think it was clear if Stannis knew either?

Jon's reveal comes in Melisandre's chapter, he doesn't realize it until much later.

Some theorists present that Stannis and Mance are in cohorts. IIRC, cantuse on reddit and Tony Teflon are the most prominent that I have seen. Both I think believe Stannis authored the Pink Letter.

There's definitely a possibility Stannis knows about it, but its just as possible he doesn't. It's a lot of loosely stringed information together to drive a very specific, conspiracy narrative.

They probably think he lost the battle of Blackwater on purpose too...;)

I get ridiculously happy when characters disappear for a couple of seasons then come back (like Slynt and Thorne last year)

I'm still hoping that since he gets name-dropped in 501 that Illyrio will show up for a chat with Varys later in the season after Tyrion's capture.

Me too *prayer circle*

LOL Olly has a team? And I usually adore looking at your avi. If Olly Twist is in on the Ides of Whoever, he's probably not long for this world. Oh wait, new scenario..........Jon tries to protect the odd Orphan Ol and refuses to take him to Hardhome. Brave Orphan Boy somehow smuggles himself to the fight, and just like most in Westeros and this story..........pays with his life for his desire for vengeance.

Yeah, I could write that character's varying death scenes all day.

ETA: Anfd my splint hit the post button. this all reminds me how I think it was a bad idea to show so much Wilding raiding, that is what made both Ygritte and Tormund look pretty vicious on screen. And.........for all of that, we were still robbed by Evil Ygritte of Tormund and his She Bear. :crying: HAR!!!

Some evidences that Stannis agreed to the switch. First, this segment from A Dance With Dragons:

Mance Rayder's thick grey-brown hair blew about his face as he walked. He pushed it from his face with bound hands, smiling. But when he saw the cage his courage failed him. The queen's men had made it from the trees of the haunted forest, from saplings and supple branches, pine boughs sticky with sap, and the bone white fingers of the weirwoods. They'd bent them and twisted them around and through each other to weave a wooden lattice, then hung it high above a deep pit filled with logs, leaves, and kindling.

The wildling king recoiled from the sight. "No," he cried, "mercy. This is not right, I'm not the king, they-"

Ser Godry gave a pull on the rope. The King-Beyond-the-Wall had no choice but to stumble after him, the rope choking off his words. ...

Why would Rattleshirt would say "they" if Mel is the only one behind the switch?

Then, later in ADWD, Mel tells Jon that "Mance owes [Jon] his very life". Why would Mance owes his life to Jon? The only possible reason is that Stannis was persuaded by Jon's arguments to keep Mance alive. Mel specifically says that it was Jon's argument about the laws ending at the Wall that saved Mance. Only Stannis cares about stuff like that. Finally, there's this quote from Mance himself:

"Stannis burned the wrong man."

"No." The wildling grinned at him through a mouth of brown and broken teeth. "He burned the man he had to burn, for all the world to see. We all do what we have to do, Snow. Even kings.

He straight says that Stannis knew what he was doing. In fact, think about it, there isn't much reason to presume Stannis didn't know.

Olly Twist! And what would a McVengeance arc be without a feather dress? Be afraid, ravens of Castle Black.

I don't know why, but I'm pumped to see a lot of Ser Kevan this season. Sure he was underused IMO, but when he was on screen Ian Gelder was great. I thought he carried himself like a Lannister, and the lines he did have were delivered perfectly.

With regards to Stannis/Mance (spoiler'd for being offtopic):

Some evidences that Stannis agreed to the switch. First, this segment from A Dance With Dragons:

Then, later in ADWD, Mel tells Jon that "Mance owes [Jon] his very life". Why would Mance owes his life to Jon? This isn't the right topic, but in Mel's POV when Rattleshirt comes to visit her, everything she says internally implies she freed Mance on her own accord to win favor with Jon:

------------------------------------------------------------

Was I wrong to spare this one?

Those were not words [RattleMance] would wish to hear, though, and she could not risk losing him, not now.

Mel: "We must win the lord commander's trust, and the only way to do that is to save her*."

RMance: "Me save her, you mean? The Lord' Bones?"

Mel: "He is not you... You can do what he cannot."

*her = f2Arya, Alys Karstark, but she believes her vision to be of the real Arya.

The day has come, the red priestess thought. Lord Snow will have to listen to me now.

"There he stands, Lord Snow. Arya's deliverance. A gift from the Lord of Light ... and me."

------------------------------------------------------------

The problem I see too often with ASOIAF theories is they latch on to a few small phrases and blow the thing up to more than it needs to be. You can't ignore really important evidence like Mel's own internal musings. If there is any hint of Stannis sparing Mance, you should find it in her own thoughts.

Yeah, I'm just wondering how much screen time he'll have. I'm assuming he'll be in about 4 episodes. The small council has only 3 members left and since they don't seem to be introducing the new members, Kevan could just take one of the positions, however he doesn't appear at Tommen's wedding in the show so Idk how that will play out.
