Well travelled, yourself! For someone from the Free Cities you have seen a lot of Westeros!

Actually I'm from Westeros - The Eyrie - and when I travel I often opt for Essos and the Summer Isles but I have seen a great deal of Westeros as well.

Craster’s Keep

I think it's really cool that you guys have been North of the Wall! I've really wanted to visit there myself :cool4: I'm envious.

If I were confined only to US states/Territories:

Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota = the North

California, Nevada = the Westerlands

Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Kansas = the Vale (with Nebraska & Kansas constituting the "fertile" part of it)

Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma = Dorne

Hawaii, Guam, US Virgin Islands, & Puerto Rico = The Summer Islands

Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigin, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky = The Riverlands (no change)

Arkansas, Lousiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and North Carolina = the Reach

Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia = the Crownlands

West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine = the Stormlands

49th Parallel = "the Wall"

Islands off of Alaska's panhandle & the Aleutians = Iron Islands

Mainland Alaska = Beyond the Wall (Panhandle) & Land of Always Winter (Rest of Alaska)

I think Fat Mac was trying to accurately identify all of North American analogous cities in Westeros that appear on the map, rather than state which cities he's been to.

I have fond memories of my trips north of the wall. I've only been to Essos once and I'd really love to see more of it. I'm envious of your trip to the Summer Isles. My wife and I are talking of screwing up our courage and travelling across the Sunset Sea some day where we hope to meet up with some friends from Essos that go there often.

You're not but cool that you worked in those boundaries!

West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine = the Stormlands

I'm curious about why these are the Stormlands? Weather? Other reasons?

My wife and I are talking of screwing up our courage and travelling across the Sunset Sea some day where we hope to meet up with some friends from Essos that go there often.

Go for it! Everyone wonders about what's on the other side of the Sunset Sea.

Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Ney York Metro Area, Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, and DC should all be the Crownlands.

This leaves, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Upstate New York, southern portions of Quebec, and New Brunswick as the Vale.

Dorne is closer to the Southwest US. That area isn't exactly fertile for growing.

I definitely agree with this! Also need tweaks to the Stormlands and Reach.

Yep, I live in Western NY, and it certainly doesn't match anywhere around here. It's almost all farmland from Niagara Falls to Albany. The highest peak in NY is Mt Marcy at 5,000 or so feet, much tinier than I imagine the mountains of the Vale being.

Exactly. As someone who lived in Western NY too (Rochester, to be exact) for a while, I do have a hard time picturing it as the Vale

Looks like I've been to about 35 of those places.

Which roughly matches the amount of U.S. states I've visited give or take a few.

I was wondering if Lemonwood was supposed to be Acapulco?

Anyways Detroit as Harrenhall was precious lol.

Currently residing just North of Seagard.

I live in Rochester! And yes, it's nothing like the Vale (maybe except bad winters).

There were some nasty thunderstorms around the time I was there (in Henrietta, by the way), so I remember it more like the Stormlands :p

Hyland Park is definitely a part of the Reach, though

Heh, with -15F temperatures this winter, I'm thinking Beyond the Wall more and more :p

This makes my family and me refugees from Dreadfort, currently living in the Crownlands but along the way stopping for a few years in the Iron Islands and the Vale. Of course, like all Dreadfort natives, significant time has also been spent in the more southerly reaches of the Stormlands. A cadet branch of the family made it almost all the way to Deepwood Motte. My mother, of course, married into the family in Dreadfort, after a long voyage from Essos.
