You can also see his jaw slightly moving as this is happening. I don't think they would draw out the zoom in for so long if not for that little subtle moment. It just doesn't make any sense. Seasons 6 and 7 mostly involve the Night's King invading and turning everyone into zombies, while having a vanguard led by Ramsay flaying anyone that might get away. Dany remains in Essos (never leaving) where she is captured and raped by the khalasaar thus guaranteeing at least 1 beloved character is raped per season. He's not. These people are making the same mistake some did with Jon's death in the books. Davos and Mel being at the Wall should be evidence of that.
