Knight of the Amused Tree
While I would find an exploration of Skagos, its culture and history fascinating I'm not sure I want to spend too many Davos chapters there. I believe having Davos' POV and reaction to events like the aftermath of the Battle of Ice and events at the Wall would be much more valuable. I would reconsider however if the Others (or "things in the water") are making their way to the island. Whether or not Davos brings Rickon back (IMO he will), what's your preference? Several chapters of Davos on Skagos or a quick snatch and grab by Davos and then back to the North?
ShelbySmythe
I've already plotted the chapters out in my mind. Davos I: On the boat going towards Skagos. In the end, he catches sight of the island. Davos II: He's exploring Skagos, and will be hosted at House Thenn or some other house, before the reveal of where Rickon is on the island. Davos III: Davos discovers Rickon and Osha, and begins to escort them towards their boat. Davos IV: The boat trip back to Eastwatch-by-the-sea. After that, it's anybody's guess. I could be wrong, but two max on Skagos with four devoted to finding and returning Rickon seems reasonable.
Talking Hodor
Chapter 1: Arduous travel to Skagos Chapter 2: Gigantic feast in Skagos described in painstaking detail. Chapter 3: Introduction of fifty new Skagosi characters Chapter 4: Rickon is killed.
Knight of the Amused Tree
Yeah, four sounds right just by logistics alone. Thanks. probably couldn't do it any quicker. Putting my trust in GRRM to give us some meaty, thoughtful stuff in there rather than a travelogue.
shadows and dust
Chapter 1: Arduous travel to Skagos Chapter 2: Gigantic feast in Skagos described in painstaking detail. Chapter 3: Introduction of fifty new Skagosi characters Chapter 4: Rickon is killed. In your scenario, you probably only need 3 chapters. Chapter 1: Arduous travel to Skagos Chapter 2: Introduction of fifty new Skagosi characters Chapter 3: Rickon is killed, feast in Skagos described in painstaking detail, bc cannibals
aryagonnakill#2
1 chapter, no more. Don't forget the timeline here, George would have to go waaaay back in time to show us the journey, and he has previously never showed us a Davos journey. Again think back Davos shows up on the 3 sisters and has only 1 chapter there, then he arrives at White Harbor and has only 2 chapters there. Whitering
3 Chapters going there and intro, there, there and exit I have my doubts that Skagos is a horrible place, I think it's an Iceland situation.
Nevets
Skagos is on the way to Hardhome. Davos will likely get there in time for the Hardhome evacuation. I actually think most of his story line deals with Hardhome, not Skagos. I do think Rickon and Osha play an important role, though.
The Snow of Winterfell
I agree with the other comments. Can't see too much time being spent on Skagos, however I think that when finding Rickon and Osha the Skagosi will join the war to fight the Boltons to make Rickon the Lord of Winterfell. nickdt
Three chapters (And if we are lucky we get four). 1. Davos getting sight of the Island and surrounded by Skagosi. 2. Introduction to Rickon and Osha. Shaggydog is calm around Davos, because of his good nature. Preperation for the Skagosi to land and help WF. 3. The landing and the marching to WF. They come too late for the Battle of WF. Then we get 2 or 3 Davos chapters in WF (Since most likely Theon and Asha are dead/back to the II). RomKat
I agree but I want to add ONE more chapter... 1. Long journey to Skagos 2. Meet Rickon and his new bros 3. Tense Event 4. Something dramatic leading to him having to leave Skagos 5. Realizing that y'know...he kinda left a shit show at the wall so maybe now would be a good time to rest for a bit and ride a unicorn off into the sunset. But then after that he goes back because we need a level headed character to do exposition...
The Holy Goat
1 I'll wager, maybe 2 of GRRM is feeling charitable. No more is needed.
Hos the Hostage
Davos I: Travel to Skagos, heavy storms, goes a roundabout way, stops near some island/port where he learns that Aegon Targaryen has captured Storm's End, and the Golden Company have raided the Stormlands and slaughtered all Baratheon supporters. An old smuggler friend tells Davos that his wife and sons were also killed off. Davos II: Davos reach Skagos, while pondering a lot on life, gods and kings. He is attacked by a group of Skagosi, but all-knowing prophetic direwolf Shaggydog appears heroically and rescues Davos. Davos meets Rickon and Osha. Osha mistrusts Davos, but Rickon likes him. Davos III: Davos forms a new connection with Rickon. He begins to believe the Old Gods gave him Rickon while the Red God and the Seven took all his real sons. Osha gets killed in some fight. Davos escapes with Rickon and Shaggydog. But instead of going to WhiteHarbor, he goes to Braavos. Davos says Fuck Stannis, Fuck the Starks, Fuck the Seven Kingdoms. He and Rickon live long happy years in Braavos.
chrisdaw
Enough to keep Davos away until after Shireen burns.
Wyman Manderly's Meat Pies
I don't care about the island so much as any potential bonding between Rickon and Davos. It would be interesting to see Davos become somewhat of a father figure to the kid, if the North Plans on Crowning Rickon, and if Stannis is somehow not in the picture anymore at the time of the crowning, there isn't many better men to help guide you than Davos. Logicsbane
Might be the storyline I am most excited about. Davos is a stud, and Rickon is soooo important now.

He's a smart and somewhat honorable, good man. He would do well in place of Ned, considering the circumstances.
Ironborn Hero
3 or 4 seems like a fair projection. Davos I Travelogue + Information on Storm's End + Arrival at Skagos Davos II Clash with natives + encounter with Rickon and Osha's Keepers + Rejection from them (I always remember Jojen telling he and Shaggydog are full of fear and rage) Davos III Following a threat, he's forced to leave Skagos, but Bran interferes through Weirwoods somehow + He proves his worth to Skagosi people + comes back with Rickon (who reminds me a lot of elder Brandon Stark brother of Ned and son of Rickard) Davos IV The Manderlys give news on the Battle of Ice, and the Wall's moutiny on Jon Snow. Manderly's bend the knee to Rickon. Something magical happen with Rickon, possibly with the interference of Bran. I think next to Theon's and maybe Arya's, this storyline will have a MASSIVE amount of connection to Bran's development as a greenseer. He'll play a major role here imo. The Kinkslayer
Too much fluff. My pick is: Davos I: A quick summary of the voyage to Skagos, it ends with shaggydog attacking Davos when Rickon appears riding an unicorn. Davos II: On their way to the wall, when suddenly Shaggydog eats Davos, or did he? Melisandre I: Melisandre builds a snowman... with eyes made with onions. Jon III: Davos appears at the wall and then Wun-wun smashes!!! Davos III: Davos says: "Screw you guys, I'm going home".
Magnar of Skagos
I'm so intrigued about the entire Skagosi culture, I'd love for 10 chapters set there.
