Altherion Posted May 24, 2018 Share Posted May 24, 2018 The story with Holtby is an amusing example of how statistics can mislead. If you just look at the game stats, he has two shutouts in a row thus effectively winning the series. However, if you actually watched the games, the reason for those shutouts becomes pretty clear: the Capitals simply weren't letting Tampa get a decent shot at the goal (often at the cost of bruises and possibly a concussion). He did make a couple of really good saves, but for the most part, he was mediocre and Fleury's play so far has been at a much higher level. And it's completely ponderous that Wilson doesn't even have a hearing for that bullshit cheap shot last night. But it's the NHL, so I'm not that surprised.
