Conte must be furious by now. i honestly wouldn't be surprised if he walked if we don sign anyone today. I wouldn't even blame him if he did. Mark Antony
Happy with Ox for depth but I'll be disappointed if we don't sign VVD honestly. Lemar is a luxury unless we lose Coutinho then he'd be needed but VVD (or any CB who can give Lovren some competition) is essential if Liverpool want to compete in all their competitions imo. baxus
I would like a CB who will blow Lovren out of the water, not one who can give him competition. Why would I want someone who would compete with a CB that's nowhere near world class and is very prone to making costly mistakes?
Mark Antony
I just want a CB though. Shouldn't have been that difficult to find one better than Lovren. Klopps stubborn VVD or nothing stance could bite Liverpool in the ass hard if they can't get him.

Jordan La Cabra
Sky Sports saying Chelsea have agreed a fee for Torino full back Davide Zappacosta, believed to be £23m + add ons. Would anyone with a bit more Serie A knowledge be able to tell me more about him? How would he compare to the likes of Moses and Alonso? I know he has a few Italy caps and is 25, so he is coming at a good age. Admittedly, I was underwhelmed when we signed Alonso on deadline day last summer, but he has turned out to be a great signing, so I'm hoping this was a similar coup from Conte. Don't know much about him myself but some Italian journalists say he was among the best fullbacks in Serie A last season. An excellent runner and was second only to Sandro in the number of accurate crosses from open play. If Chelsea were planning to use Ox at RWB then it could very well turn out that Zappacosta is a better option since he is a specialist there (and Ox didn't want to even play in that position anyway). I agree. I would much rather have a genuine wing back playing there than someone who first played there in April and is known to not like playingin the role. Conte should be as good of a judge as anyone when it comes to wing backs, considering how many years he has used them in his systems at Juve, Italy and Chelsea. I trust his judgement on this call. Hopefully we can get this deal finalised and sign one more player. I'd take Drinkwater as that one more player.

Consigliere
James Ducker (not sure how reliable he is for Arsenal news) is reporting that Arsenal have agreed a fee with Monaco for Lemar and now it's just up to the player to decide if he wants to join. Does this mean that Sanchez to City is done since reports were saying Arsenal have no money for significant incomings?

Issue is, no one wants to play for Arsenal so I doubt it happens. Also, 92m for Lemar is idiotic. Spend 60m on two DMs and promote Reiss Nelson. Done. Iskaral Pust
Best of luck to Origi on loan at Wolfsburg. After a few great months in 2015/6, maliciously ended by that Everton shithouse, he looked pretty lost last season: a few good goals but lots of turnovers and blind alleys. Hopefully some more regular game time will help him hone is awareness.

It's almost as if Wenger and the board think if they sell Alexis and replace him with Lemar, breaking the British transfer record in doing so, all will be forgotten. If they had kept Sanchez and signed Lemar they would still be in no position to challenge. As you say, until they can fix problems in the core of their team, like centre midfield and centre back, they will not progress on the pitch.
