Morgon of Hed from The Riddle-Master trilogy.

I can't believe nobody mentioned Death from Discworld. Or did I miss that?

I second Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride.

Dandelion from Watership Down, if you consider that Fantasy (which I kinda do).

the Kid -- Dhalgren, Samuel Delany
Edmund -- Narnia (read them over and over in grade school)

The Gray Mouser.

He was the first one that came to mind for me. Although I'm not sure you can really mention the Grey Mouser without also mentioning Fafrd. In my opinion, they make each other.

In no particular oder:

Logen Ninefingers (The First Law)

Lord Mhoram (Chronicles of Thomas Covenant)

Faramir (LotR)

Marc Remillard (Saga of the Exiles)

Ah, I was wondering if someone would mention Faramir? He's my favorite and the fact that Jackson had him take the ring in the movies is a travesty!

gandalf - LotR, hobbit, silmarillion

f'lar - chronicles of pern

lessa - chronicles of pern

jimmy the hand - riftwar, serpentwar, krondor

harry potter - just kidding :D

of course, i kept aSoIaF characters out of it... there are just too many...

Nope. Not joking about Harry Potter. I read the books and saw the movies long ago but I am now reading them to my kids and, because of this, they are fresh in my mind. Harry Potter is kick-ass and the relationship between Harry and Dumbledore is even more kick-ass. Also, Severus Snape is even more kick-ass than that!

Finally, I saw that someone mentioned Luthien from the Silmarillion upthread but I didn't see Beren anywhere so allow me to do it. Also, I don't think we can forget Glaurung.

Plenty of people have.

For me: Anton Gorodetsky - Sergei Lukyanenko's Watch Series (Night Watch, Day Watch etc...). I can't beleve now one has mentioned him or the series. Probably the only book that has done something really interesting with Fantasy (I'm not a big fantasy fan so don't slate me and yes I get the irony of what forum I'm on haha)
