WightMeWorry
I like Ciaran Hinds for Doran as well. Another candidate Stephen Lang (best known for his role as Stonewall Jackson in Gods and Generals). Or Stannis or Mormont, but really he's more in the Tywin/Doran group agewise. Just a solid actor (although from his resume it seems he's mostly in US productions and stagework). Zakk Wylde is totally an Umber, or Karstark, or Ironborn. All-for-Joffrey
I realize this isn't relevant to the third season and I don't know if it's been thrown out before but I think Naveen Andrews, who plays Sayid on Lost, would make a very good Oberyon Martell. Mike the Magnar
I always thought Areo Hotah was dark-skinned! I saw some art of him looking pretty much just like that Wylde guy (who could be anything, but Hotah would be an excellent choice) without long blonde hair (shorter and dark with gray in it instead). spokomptonjdub
Also, I could see Michael Fassbender playing perhaps Jaime; http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k117/ene...300_stelios.jpg He's the "Fight in the shade" guy from 300 who has a similar humor in his character combined with impulsiveness, very Jaime-like. However, if he's not "hunky" enough or too old for Jaime, he'd make a great Mance Rayder or Bronn.
kimba
I'm nominating Robert Allen Mukes for one of the Clegane boys. I see him more as the Hound because I can see some vulnerability in his face. He's 6'10" so even though he isn't as tall as the Clegane boys (not too many people are) he will tower above everyone else. I know him mostly from Weeds where he played Abumchuk the native bounty hunter after Cat. StarkMyrmidon
For either Maester Luwin or Grand Maester Pycelle, I recommend the fantastic Jarlath Conroy. He's done tons of work on the stage, both on Broadway and here in DC (I've seen him here in both Our Town and A Christmas Carol). He's done considerable TV, film and ad work as well. He's Irish but has lived in the states for years; whatever accent they decide to go with when they film in the UK would be no problem for Jarlath I'm sure. Diamond Willie
I second Nikolai Valuev as Gregor Clegane. He's over 7 feet tall and in great shape (You have to be if you're the heavy weight champion of the world) He's not an oiled up bodybuilder though which I think is good. He got chesthair (and backhair) I don't know if he can act but he has appeared in some russian films so atleast he seems willing to. Come on! Staying in Jericho, "Skeet" Ulrich (Jake Green) could be a very nice Bronn. He is a little bit old, or I would vote for him as Jon.
Oh my gods, yes! If Skeet Ulrich was twenty years younger he would make a perfect Jon! Maybe we could squeeze him in somewhere? How about Benjen? Seconding Kenneth Mitchell as Edmure. Nice pick! Diamond Willie
I second Peter O'Toole as Walder Frey. I'm not sure they want to cast a 80+ actor though for atleast three seasons! (He'll live to book five minimum) It's a bit risky, you'd probably have to shoot all his scenes in advance. I could see Cristopher Lee as well or Max Von Sydow. If you throw those three around you'd have a good Grand Master Pycelle, Walder Frey and Maester Aemon. Swedish actor Per Oscarsson would make a great Frey as well, he is very good and I think he looks the part: http://svt.se/content/1/c6/22/08/13/kasparinudadalen.jpg http://www.cinemazone.dk/images/image6057.JPG They all share a common problem though, the insecurity of old age.
