The rains of Casterly Rock?

Will it be? I find it quite convenient that GRRM has taken his characters to every little town in Westeros and Essos, yet the home of the most powerful House since the Targaryens has been left untouched. A battle is due.

Family is a big deal in Westeros but I find it especially pronounced in the Lannister chapters. Tywin Lannister cares only about his legacy yet is unable to see how easily it's washed away. After all, he eradicated or tried to eradicate three entire Houses (Reyne, Targaryen, Stark). I feel like the writing is on the wall with this one. The Lannisters will suffer the fate of House Reyne and Tywin will lose the one thing he held dear. Also, the very first Tyrion chapters are quite telling. They're all about "you know how much I love my family" and "I would never bet against my family". Although he has changed his mind on the subject, he's destined to be killed only because he's a Lannister. That is his bittersweet ending.

The timing would be most perfect when Daenerys attacks King's Landing. When Lannister troops are engaged there, it would be up to Targaryen loyalists (Greyjoy?) or any of House Lannister's many enemies to take the unguarded city. And after the battle of Houses winter would set in.

I would definitely like to see Casterly Rock via a POV character, but I don't want to see it destroyed. I'm still holding out on hope that Tyrion will end up with CR in the end. Stannis's Lawyer, I like the idea of him using the sewers to take the castle. Take that for trying to demean him with that job, Tywin!

Well, I also hope that Tyrion ends up with being Lord of CR. (Of course, being king would be the greater honor.)

Hence I believe Tyrion will use his knowledge of the sewers to take the castle.

Even though it would be sure to work (He's small, has knowledge of Casterly Rock and it would be ironic) but I would deem it too similar to Astapor. However, I don't really care that much; as long ad Casterly Rock is shown, I'm down.

Casterly Rock is far too big to take unless you're using stealth and you know the castle well. Hence I believe Tyrion will use his knowledge of the sewers to take the castle.

Harrenhal was bigger than Casterly Rock and look what I did to it. Don't make assumptions. By the time Dany arrives in Westeros her army will be humongous however I do agree with you that it will be indeed Tyrion who helps take Casterly Rock.

My point is Casterly Rock can be taken with force but it will take a lot and quite some casualties unless you have a dragon like my Balerion doing your bidding!

WoIaF spoiler

Visenya apparently remarked that they were lucky the Lannisters met them in open combat because Casterly Rock probably could have withstood an attack by the dragons. And that was with their big three, let alone Dany's juveniles.

Also size =/= strength and stability.

According to WOIAF, Harrenhall is tiny compared to CR. When it is said that Harenhall is the biggest castle, people in Westeros probably compare Harrenhall with the castle on the top of CR. But CR is inside the rock as well and this rock is humongous.

I've read TWOIAF and you're mistaken. Harrenhal is in fact bigger than Casterly Rock

Can you then point me where the size of Harrenhall is mentioned, that is bigger than CR?

CR is 3x higher than the Wall, more than 10 km wide. Harrenhall is not that high by far. And I doubt it's that wide
