Is Kevan popular or something? Why do people want him back so bad?

Because he's one of the few completely sane members of the Lannister's family tree and because of what happened in the epilogue of ADWD.

I want Kevan back just to avoid a plot hole in which Tywin's brother just disappears, but other than that... eh.

If he goes down the same route as he does in the books, I can't see how his death would be of much impact. I think it would be better if they switch his and Pycelle's deaths around, with Pycelle finding Kevan's body before being shot. I believe having Pycelle be the one dying while learning of Varys master plan would be a better way to go for the unsullied.

I mean, even if he do actually accomplice something this season, like getting the kingdoms back on their feet, I still can't see how we would really care about him as a character that appears just to die a couple of episodes later. It's not exactly like he's Oberyn or Ned.

Kevan was a good character in the books. Not really standout, but what he did in ADwD was good. But in the show so far he's just a cranky old fart.

If there is no Aegon, then no 'reveal' and the audience is going to know already this season that Varys is supporting Dany, then there is no reason for that whole scene in the show, unless I'm missing something.

I'm still a little hopefull that there's more to Varys' plan. Either that Aegon is still in (which I doubt) or that Trystane is somehow taking over the role somehow. Or something else. I don't know.

But if there's no epilogue murders on the show, I really don't understand why they're bringing Kevan back. Maybe it is for Ian Gelder's sweet face.

Varys could just be telling Tyrion this stuff to get him to go to Dany like Illryio did in ADWD then they can reveal Aegon while Kevan is getting the speech.

The thing with that is, Even though Tyrion wasnt told specifically about Aegon from Illyrio/Varys, he found out about him on the course of his trip, so it happened shortly after the scene he was told he would go for Dany in Meereen.

However in the show Tyrion doesnt run into the shy maid, he seems to run right into Jorah so the discovery about Aegon doesnt happen in the same timeframe, and David and Dan said Vary's plans will be revealed this season. How will we find out about Aegon without the Shymaid?

Now, I can see this happening later in a different contex. Where Aegon comes later to Meereen, where Dany is gone in the Dothraki Sea and Tyrion who got into a high position in Meereen or somehow or another gets to Aegon, and then tells Aegon to go for Westeros instead if they want to delay the Aegon Storyline. But who knows.

I thought I might share my mum's commentary on the trailer:

On Tyrion: "Looks like he's moved on to whiskey."

On Dany: "Didn't she say a line exactly like that in last year's trailer?"

On the riders at 0:37: "That looks like the Brotherhood."

On the shot of the chaos in Daznak's: "Pause there, that looks like it might have to do with what's happening to Wrinkle-Forehead [Jorah]."

(Of course I didn't pause there 'cause I don't want to spoil the scene when it airs).

As much of a field day as a I head reading through 40 pages of posts and dissecting the trailer. ;)

To reiterate, a high quality version of the trailer can be found here:

I am going to put a summary of this, plus the link to the trailer in the OP. Much of what we saw in the trailer we have already been able to deduce from leaked photos and videos as well as casting calls. Still, trailer looks very good and I am definitely hyped now.

----

Updating the OP now. As always, look to the stars.

Nice summary, thanks :)

In the Dany shot where she is being escorted down the stairs, she is wearing the Pit dress, and Barristan and Grey Worm are also present. Suggests they are still alive at the time of the Pit episode, contrary to what many believed. They are both (well, Barristan at least. Grey Worm could be one of the helmeted Unsullied I suppose) absent from the shot where Dany and co. Are surrounded, so I'm not sure where they will disappear to. Still think there is a chance they might be used as hostages myself.

I'm trying to figure out the Wall storyline based on what we've seen so far. It's a tough one to pick out because it's obviously going to be EXTREMELY different from the books. I have no idea what's going on with Tormund and Rattleshirt. Episode 1 we have some idea of based on the leaked script summary which looks to be extremely accurate but probably (and hopefully) incomplete.
https://www.facebook.com/Stannisswagatheon/posts/814624378577731

Ep1: A few scenes with Jon interacting with Stannis, Melisandre and Davos. The end of the episode is Jon receiving a letter from Stannis giving him Winterfell and declaring him a Stark if he chooses. (I think that's the scene we're seeing in the pictures released today)

Ep 2: Jon declines Stannis' offer and says his place is with the Night's Watch. Jon is elected Lord Commander.

Ep 3-6:

Mance is offered to the Lord of Light by Melisandre as evidenced by the trailer. King's blood sacrifice for Stannis' Battle for Winterfell? (Maybe Mance actually does die in the show and never goes to Winterfell? Who knows)

Stannis' army marches for Winterfell or Deepwood Motte, if it's in.

Davos goes...somewhere else. No idea where.

Have to think Janos Slynt bites the dust somewhere in these episodes. But maybe not until after Hardhome?

Melisandre seduces Jon after Stannis leaves.

Maester Aemon dies and has a funeral

Ep 7:

Jon leaves for Hardhome

Sam and Gilly leave for Oldtown

Ep 8: Hardhome (Have no idea what's gonna go down here, I really hope we don't have the Ides of Marsh at Hardhome but who knows.)

Ep 9-10: No clue. Pink Letter?

I hope we get some scenes between Sam and Shireen or Sam and Davos. Both would be really entertaining.

Is Kevan popular or something? Why do people want him back so bad?

He's a great character, especially in the last two books. A moderate Lannister, who lost his son in the War of the Five King. And he offers a great counterpoint to Cersei's follies. Plus, the actor playing him in the first two seasons was cool and seemed terribly underused.
