King Jon Targaryen I
If Aegon Targaryen convinces himself that he is the son of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Princess Elia Martell and get the Dornish on his side because Dany may lose support because of Quentyn Martell, will they crown Aegon with Aegon I crown has proof of his legitimacy? Remember it is possible that House Martell has Aegons crown after Daeron I was ambushed and may ,make it has a sign of support for Aegon VI. Krusty Kraken
This is very likely, if the Martells follow Aegon into war, and they posses this crown, they'll do it, for sure

A spoon of knife and fork
That's a cool idea. Do we know why the Dornish would still have the crown rather than giving it back to the IT?
James Arryn
That's a cool idea. Do we know why the Dornish would still have the crown rather than giving it back to the IT?I think it was never used again after being lost. Which is not to say that the Martells are necessarily in possession...why now as opposed to support Daeron in the BF Rebellion, or another of the Targ/Martell weddings? But still, it's possible and a cool idea.
The Tower of Almond Joy
Very insightful thinking, OP Also, Viserys had to sell Rhaella's crown. What do you think happened to it? We aren't told where he was when he sold it nor who bought it and for how much.
Lost Melnibonean
I agree. In the last Dance of Dragons the green claimant wore that crown and his name was Aegon too.
Mithras
What is interesting is that Dorne didnot give that crown to Daeron II or any of his descendants.
JonCon's Red Beard
It's a war trophy. War trophies aren't given back. Like, we definitely have now a good relationship with Chile, a country we've warred many times but they won't return THE ONE HEROIC SHIP of us they captured during the War of the Pacific. Lady Blizzardborn
He doesn't have to convince himself, OP. He's been raised as Aegon Targaryen. There's no doubt in his mind who he is. Which is why it's going to be awful for him if he turns out to be a fake and lives to learn that fact.
King Jon Targaryen I
It could be used for Varys and Illyrios purposes to crown him with Aegon I crown to further prove that he is the perfect prince and what better way then symbolizing Aegon the Conqueror for that matter, to me it makes perfect sense. The only country in Westeros that has it is Dorne and could serve has a ally to Aegon VI and what better way then give the war trophy of the Dornish and Targaryen conflict. King Jon Targaryen I
Was Arianne Martell planning to use Aegon's crown to crown Marcylla? Good question, I have no idea but I am positive the Dornish or House Martell or House Yornwood has the crown.
Poodle Pup From Astapor
I think Martells having the crown would've been mentioned in the books by now, if GRRM had such plans.

That guy Alistair
I really like that idea. Would be cool if it's correct. No big game changer but a nice way that some of the history (dorne defeating the Young Dragon) can come into play in a relevant way.
LordToo-Fat-to-Sit-a-Horse
Can't read that, so can we get an idea of what it says? a couple of years ago Argentina returned war trophies from the (infamous) war of Paraguay.. in shame i guess: http://www.economist.com/news/christmas/21568594-how-terrible-little-known-conflict-continues-shape-and-blight-nation
Lost Melnibonean
It will make quite a splash with Blackfyre the sword. Dark Sister would make a nice wedding present for Daenerys. She could then give Jorah the sword she promised him.
